Quite a blast from the past. The cask strength NAS category was a key step on the journey. I actually haven't finished anything of these bottles yet as I've moved on to independent bottles and newer distilleries. Everyone has mentioned the scotches that are not on the list like Benromach, Bunna12, Glenallachie 10, Kilkerran 8, Tomatin, Victoriana and A'bunadh. They are like reliable friends waiting in the back of the cupboard for me. Any Balcones single barrel is worth a go.

I kind of live in a whisky desert that is Prince Edward Island Canada. A small town in the smallest province so I will not blame our outlets. All things considered in a very small and somewhat isolated and mostly rural area, they do a pretty good job. But having a small population means we are not exactly a huge market that great whisky's try hard to get here. It's a meat and potatoes kind of place so maybe fine whiskys land elsewhere. But grab every Alberta Premium Cask Strengths that you can. Whatever year. Bargoon you can be proud to have and serve. Cheers

Love the list Erik. I would have added any of the Benromach Cask Strength series, I have the 2013 Batch 1 and have had the 2009 Batch 4, and probably Aberlour A'Bunadh.

Nice episode. May I submit: Aberlour a'bunadh, Bunnahabhain 12 C/S, Alberta Premium C/S Rye, Amrut Cask Strength (or Portonova although that's closer to $150), Port Charlotte (not strictly C/S, but a decent 50% ABV), Wild Turkey Rarebreed B/P, Knob Creek 120, & Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel Proof (Bourbon or Rye). Cheers.

Regards to I just got CSP and now ongoing with CWS certificate, do you have any recommendation for simultaneous learning EWA courses (even diploma or certified), or not?
@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies7 күн бұрын
While the courses are complimentary it always best to first exhaust the required materials before moving on to others as the assigned reading is what you will be tested on . However, since you know my videos have been created specifically with my own CWM studies in my I think you’ll find them quite complimentary, especially for Scotch whisky.
@charliefoxtrot72198 күн бұрын
@ErikWait, is this a paid promotion or did you pay your own money for any part of this product? Also, SMWS just launched a similar product with EWA.
@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies8 күн бұрын
I added the "Paid Promotion" as I got the kit for free but I was not "paid" any money. They did not ask me to make a video, only that I would share it on social media. I have done other work for them for free like review their online training before they made it available. I have also taught one of their courses at the Wizard Academy in Austin Texas. I don't accept free bottles from businesses who just want free advertising but I will promote a whisky education program for free with or without being asked. I also don't have Patreons (I did for a short time) or any outside financial support and I pay for all my own bottles.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies I do not begrudge you, or anyone, for making money off of a YT channel. I thought it a reasonable question. I look forward to more of your videos. They are very educational.

I visited the distillery and bought the bottle 6 months ago. It was a very limited release. The point of this video wasn't to say "buy this bottle" but rather "when you visit Scotland, try Ballindalloch's 'Art of Whisky Making' experience."

Cheers Erik, I was on the hunt for the Single Barrel 8yr Sherry release, it sounded so well put together, found mine at Whisky castle a little shop just down the road from that Distillery, I'm sure they have the option to hold it for you if asked.
@whiskeywookie275815 күн бұрын
To get that light silky smooth effect is tighter cuts. A lot of distilleries allow some heads and trails into the blend to be more efficient and those unwanted notes usually age out in the barrel over a longer period of time, but you get more alcohol bite on the finished product. If you're not tasting that bite, they are making tighter cuts, but you can lose complexity if it spends too much time in the barrel. Getting to play distiller for a day is always an amazing experience! The bottling set up is almost identical to what we use at the brewery. It can be a little finicky, but once set up it usually runs smoothly. Another great episode, cheers!
