I think the best thing you’re doing in this piece, Evan, is letting fans know this reality: other than Ullmark, the Bruins aren’t trading anyone away. The Bruins NEED young low-cost contributors on the roster, so they can leverage their cap space in the free agent market over the next three summers. Poitras, Lohrei, Swayman, Frederic, and Beecher aren’t going anywhere.

He's definitely a number 1 center, is he a top tier number 1 center? No but he fits the bill and he fits this team and also what other options do you have? Stamkos isn't coming to Boston, Sweeney has already said hes not gonna dish out top dollar for a guy like Reinhart so there's no other options, Lindholm wins faceoffs, kills penalties, brings a physical presence and we've seen when he plays with guys who have similar skill sets to Pasta he puts up points, if Sweeney can get another impact wing and a decent 2nd line center along with Lindholm this team could compete they're built to win in tbe next couple years, Marchy is gonna be 37 by the time next seasons playoffs start, your paying guys like Pasta and Lindholm big money and are about to sign Swayman to a big deal so you gotta make moves this off-season

This is the thing Bruins homers and Sweeney Apologists don't get Elias Lindholm is not a true 1C Is he better than what the Bruins have? Sure but that's because Coyle is a bottom 6 center and Zacha doesn't even play center, he's a wing Lindholm and Chandler Stephenson (who isn't a 1c either) have basically put up the same points the past two years Stephenson will cost $3-$4M less than Lindholm and he's been trending up the past two years whereas Lindholm has been going backwards stats and points wise the past two seasons The Bruins would be dopes to give Lindholm $8M-$9M per year as that will put them right back into Cap Jail for a player that is not going to put up the kind of numbers you need your $8-$9M players to put up I'd rather have Chandler Stephenson for $5M and keep the money to throw the kitchen sink at Draisaital next off season

Lindholm is indeed better than what the team currently has but it's about how much is the team going to have to pay to bring him to Boston? I agree, 8-9 mil is probably too much but for say 7 mil? I'd do it. Coyle is going to be slowing down and maybe by then Poitras will have grown into the role of 2C.

Devils fan here, been advocating for Ullmark forever, I think he'd be a perfect fit. I'd also be surprised if he was that opposed to going to NJ of all places. He'd be the franchise goalie on a team that should absolutely be contending. In many ways he'd be the one missing piece for this team. It probably would require some sort of sign and trade in order to part with the 10 OA. I know a lot of Devils fans feel like it is too rich, and I get it, 10th OA is a valuable asset, and Ullmark does have his question marks, I guess. But to me it seems like a match made in heaven. Maybe exchange some later picks or something if it eases peoples anxiety haha. I think getting a legit #1 goalie for the pick is a slam dunk move. Great post! Will follow this channel. Florida certainly has proven themselves, but while we're on the subject of well constructed teams, the Bruins are a great example of a team to emulate. Always in the mix, year after year. Respect where due!

As a Bruins fan obviously the 10th overall pick is very enticing but I want a player who can make an impact for Ullmark, Sweeneys draft record hasn't been great and with how this team is built they need a player who's ready to contribute this year

The Bruins will be aggressive and take Linus into the season if they don't line up. Once they sign Sway and get their center, the equasion changes. Stay tuned...

@Neil-ym8vy separately, poor in a addition to the pick? My thought has always been that Boston would turn around and trade the pick, though I think they ha r good reason to draft with it. Maybe I'd give holtz up, with some later picks? Ullmark is on the last year of his contract so how much you get will depend on his willingness to sign and trade. Its moot if he nixes jersey as a destination, but if not? Only 15 teams have even a theoretical shot - many will be places he doesn't want to go.the remaining portion will define the competition in this bidding war. It will be really interesting to watch it play out, as it will have ramifications for the whole league. My gut though says that, no matter where he lands, it will be for a return that is much smaller than bruins fans expect. Or not, who knows. We will begin to find out soon!

It's never been ranked better than 26th in any year of Don Sweeney's tenure as GM going back to 2015 Back then it was ranked between 26th-29th. So like 8 years ago. These days it's ranked 30th-32nd and dead in the NHL last EVERYWHERE!!!! That's called terrible, especially when Debrusk is gone this summer and Frederic, Beecher and Lauko are easily replaceable bottom 6 pieces So in 9 years of drafting, 54 picks, Sweeney has come up with maybe 4 legit, impact NHL players to date: Debrusk Carlo McAvoy and Swayman and not one of them was drafted beyond 2017, seven friggin years ago The book is still out on Lohrei and Poitras as they haven't even played a single full season in the NHL yet. Maybe both will pan out and be impact players for a long time, it's possible but right now it's not certain by any stretch Even if you give them extra those two guys in Lorhrei and Poitras, adding a lousy 6 impact NHL players in NHL years of drafting is called, TERRIBLE You can have your opinion that the Bruins & Don Sweeney have drafted better lately. So, we're hearing about 2 deals; NJD & CAR. On the NJD boards they're all complaining about the price...as though the Bruins- a team that had to add many players with a few million last year -owe them something. Now, the CAR rumours are becoming more current. They're prolly watching each other and pretending that they're somewhat interested, as they attempt to devalue a guy whom they'd love to have on their team. Note: he's not a used car and that's not a message to send someone whom ya wanna sign long term, as well. Of course, with Sweeney, someone else will swoop in and...how did that happen? BOS loves Linus Ullmark. And BOS has a logjam at the position. However, they are not stuck; can easily move ahead with the best tandem ever. 😁

Best goalie tandem ever🤣🤣 With Both Swayman and Ullmark the Bruins managed two first round chokes and had to go to a game 7 with an inferior Leafs team before getting throttled by Florida this year Who cares that Ullmark and Swayman dominate Columbus on a Wednesday night in December. What's that worth come the post season? As the Bruins have proven to you and every one else on the planet these past 9 years under Don Sweeney, the answer to that question is NOTHING Falling flat on their face in their playoffs keeps happening. This post season wasn't on Swayman but neither he nor Ullmark did shit in the 2022-23 or the 2021-22 playoffs. In fact there is a very good case to be made that Ullmark throwing up all over himself in 2023 and 2022 is why they pulled 1st round chokes after great and even historic regular seasons. I love Swayman but calling two playoff failing goalies the best tandem of all time, seems kind of a bit over blown considering both of their actual results in the playoffs Swayman will have a chance to pull a Tim Thomas for the Bruins as they'll go to the playoffs again with him Ullmark, system goalie that chokes when the games matter most. The next team that overpays him is going to find that out fairly quickly too.

@@robertforte6697 NJD did not make the playoffs 10 of the past 12 seasons. They choked in the finals the years prior (2011-2012 vs LA) and another DNQ the year before that. Seems like you're not spending those higher picks properly. And right now, that investment is showing that same ole ROI with no playoff revenues...just the familiar DNQ. Of course, it gets more difficult to acquire decent players with a repertoire like that. Consider that those Wednesday games count. Lose too many and all you'll get is another DNQ. The Bruins set an NHL record for points because of their goaltending. And they got into the playoffs this year- whilst beating expectations -because of their goaltending. Perhaps, the only thing overblown is your response? 🤔

Not happenning Ullmark is not enough to land Necas. The Bruins would have to include Lysell (who noboby probably wants at this point) and more draft capital they don't have But other than that. If that was the case Charlie Coyle could be their 1C. Wins faceoffs. Kills penalties. Well in the regular season anyway. Then he gets to the post season and every night has to go against good teams, trying their ass off every shift and real NHL 1Cs. How'd that work out? Um not, great Coyle stunk in the playoffs, again So sorry, they have enough guys who can kill penalties and they bring someone. in to help with faceoffs. They need centers who can score points in the playfofs. Coyle doesn't and Zacha who doesn't even play center anymore has a grand total of ONE career playoff goal in 30 career playoff games They need points at center. Not another penalty killer
