What is it with Lagos restaurants and malls with “no camera” ? we don’t experience it here in Accra unless it’s an embassy or the airport. How are people supposed to give reviews and have memories of places they visit?

I have heard of this restaurant, they keep embarrassing people because of “dress code” . It’s a restaurant not a secondary school . Secondly if you wanted people to dress a particular way to come and eat then don’t open a cafe . A cafe anybody can come wearing anything . I personally think the rule is stupid . The owners should learn how to dis-escalate situation for the benefit of the other dinners. Fair treatment for all because they are customers and also paying. They should not have been allowed in if they felt they were inappropriately dressed in the first place. No pictures should be no pictures for all. Would I visit this restaurant after this your review ?, my answer is No, No. Money grabbing restaurant from the analysis I just listened to.

The same people that own Tea room owns Cafe de Flore, the negative reviews outweigh the positive reviews. If there is going to be a dress code then they should adhere to it thoroughly, don’t let them come in, and then start saying story when customers are seated. I still do not understand the no-camera policy, same thing at the Tea room. Why did the food take long when there was barely anyone even in the Cafe. The aesthetic is picture worthy hence my conflicted no camera policy. #adisawashere

Cafe de Flore only recently posted their dress guidelines after so many people called them out! If you want people to follow a certain dress code, then be transparent about it! Sorry you had to witness the misunderstanding there, it is a beautiful space but I've heard more negative experiences than positive ones so I am going to wait for a while before visiting

Most fancy restaurant in the US,it's well known that you should dress up,while others might state on the door, "No shoes,no shirt,no jacket(or no tie),no service".If that isn't a clue,what is?😉 There are casual restaurants for dressing down.

I don't mind them, every establishment has the right to determine the vibe/feel they want for their restaurant. As long as it is properly communicated to customers, there is nothing wrong with it. Quite a few restaurants abroad let you know if it is business casual, or no sneakers allowed etc

Thank you for your honest unbiased review. I have realised that this is the norm with most lagos restaurants- Instagram worthy beautiful ambience but with very mediocre food and service. Honestly owners need to do better so that people get value for their money. Its fine dining after all so there should be a clear difference when compared to your regular eatery. With so many similar experiences in lagos restaurants i have stopped and leave my fine dining until i go abroad and i wont lie this really makes me sad. Now When i'm in lagos its mama put and eateries for me. Restaurant owners fix this and don't see honest reviews as sisis yemmies as haters comment. A lot of people in lagos are well travelled and know exactly how these dishes on your menu should taste. If u dont change then your customers will keep on being those ones that come to spend 5k and take 5000 pictures

They need to get rid of that stupid no picture taking policy! This is the age of technology and people take pics to record their experience for memories and to share with others! They need to stop causing unnecessary contention. I agree with those young people. If they allowed pics for you it should also apply to them. And if they have dress code, it should be well posted as well as stated on their social media accounts. Then, they were too unprofessional as to not deescalate the situation 🤦🏾‍♀️ just stupid! Yemisi, there's also a pesto sauce you put on pasta that makes it 'pesto'. The pasta doesn't have to be green and both interpretations are to each their own. Glad you enjoyed yourself. 😉

The waiter crossed over the meal to serve the pasta which is wrong. I mean if there are esthetics here, everything should be adhered to including proper serving etiquette

It is really not inconsequential. There are times when you go to a place and the kind of demeaning attitude they give can make a person very irritable. I mean if you tell me ’no camera allowed’ I will assume you mean no camera for all. U can imagine the surprise when I look and I see some people are actually allowed cameras. It could be demeaning and condescending to some extent in my opinion. If you say we can’t dress a particular way, you have to clearly state that and also don't allow people not dressed properly in (even though I don't know why there is a dress code to come eat especially when it is not a michellin star or ’any star restaurant’ for that matter). You don't now allow them in and then start harrasing them about their dressing. Embarrassing your customers in front of other customers and just generally making everyone uncomfortable. Lagos restaurants be trying to copy western world, they won't now properly copy everything that matters. They think it is by fine place. You also have to train staff on customer relations as well.
