I love Shady Maple. Shoofly pie is made of a molasses gel bottom topped with flour, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and sugar. It is kind of like gingerbread with a moist bottom. It is yummy warmed up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

This is absolutely how my Grandma cooked. She taught me a lot about food and cooking. I don't possess the appetite I had when I got to eat Grandma's killer home cookin', but when I do get a taste of perfect biscuits & gravy or smothered steak these days, it takes me right back.

Surprised you didn’t put some good hot sauce on your biscuits and gravy. I’m telling you, there’s nothing better. Hot sauce on SOS is great too. Add a good cup of hot coffee, it’s sailor’s heaven. Also, you missed the opportunity to put the stewed tomatoes on top of some scrambled eggs. Maybe next time…

Shady Maple is in no way a place that you have ever have to visit. The only things it has going for it are the size of the place and the reasonable price. But you would do just as well food-wise at any other buffet in the country.
