Bruno Mathsson - the Swedish modernist design pioneer

Bruno Mathsson was a Swedish modernist design pioneer, designing bentwood furniture in the 1930's, inspired by architects like Alvar Aalto and Marcel Breuer. In the 60's he started using tubular steel, creating furniture like the Jetson, an early Scandinavian space age chair. In this video we will give you a brief introduction to Bruno Mathsson's life and career.

I just learn about the super-elliptical table from Fritz Hansen that I have at home is design by Bruno Mathsson in 1964. 😅

The Superellipse is really a magnificent table. Love the fact that the legs can be dismantled without the use of any tools. But when working at an auction house some years ago we had to assemble literally hundreds of these tables, resulting in quite a few smashed fingers...
