The best build ive seen so far. I run Zero SRF I broke a belt at 2,000 miles but it was because the rear wheel non drive side clamp had a broken alloy tab keeping the non drive side from clamping, under regen on steep bumpy long runs the wheel would go off true but under acceleration pull back in line, out of true pullies kills belts. WIth that sorted ive done 5,000 miles and the belt is spot on. I wondered how such a thin belt can survive under the kicking acceleration of the SRF. Zero have been clever the drive pulley is on the swing arm pivot centre (center for US!) and the perfect tension stays no matter where the swing arm is, this means the SRF can run a fat rear tyre without getting too wide between foot rests. I run fleet of bikes, GSXR 1000 K5, Cagiva Raptor 1000, various classics, the SRF is the bike of choice, electric is so responsive so addictive.

@@epictimebreaker Hey! Thanks for the reply! After some troubleshooting, I figured that the controller was detecting low-voltage from the batteries and shutting off. It's still not perfect, but I am able to ride it fairly reliably, as long as I watch the volts and go easy on the acceleration. Specs: Two 72v 35ah LiPo battery packs wired in parallel to make a 72v nominal 70ah pack. I bought it from Amazon from the BTR Power store. Each of them has its own BMS. The motor is a 5kw hub motor from QS Motor, the controller is a Sabvoton and the display is a Cycle Analyst 2.4. I put all of this on a stripped '81 Yamaha XS400 frame. I'm currently swapping out and modifying parts to save on weight. I discharged the battery(s) to around 64v and recharged them to full. The problem of cutting out has largely been resolved, but I have the feeling that the two packs are not keeping a balanced charge, and so the controller is reading the lower voltage off of one pack and triggering the shutdown. Once I get this problem figured out, I expect that the majority of problems preventing me from getting it licensed for the road are resolved. Next, I need to figure out how to add in a proper brake light, turn signals, and headlight, then I can put it on the road.

Awesome build, two questions: #1 WHATS A RANGE on normal streets as you mention that this bike is street legal? What you never took it for a trip in town? #2 Roughly how much was the hardware? (not the custom fabrication)

Yeaaahhh thaaanks is mate... hopefully Sketch read this comment and help me with the proper answers: 1) Range? About 60km! This is a racing bike and he designed the battery with energy and discharge rate enough to finish the races at full power and being lighter than petrol bikes. Riding on the road like a regular motorcycle, the battery will last 60kms which is plenty for most bike trips (and can still fast charge almost anywhere in 15-30min) 2)How much he spent? The electric parts used in this bike were all premium but compared to a normal petrol bike price it was probably the same price as buying a CRF450 or less. Sketch may make a video talking about costs next time cause he wants to make a cheaper / simpler version so it can be easily replicated by others.

Yeeaaaahhh thaaaanks mate... this is a very interesting question because top speed is got a lot to do with bike aerodynamics... this is a tall dirtbike (not very aero at all)... his electric bicycle can do 120kmh with less than 1/3 of the power so I’m sure this one can easily pass 150kmh maybe a lot more... this bike is about 70hp and monster torque... I talk to Sketch all the time I’ll encourage him to do a video testing the top speed =]

@@BrunoPOWEEER he's talking about the gear ratio in the back. If we factor out everything else, gear ratio is actually what determines top speed. A short gear would have ess top speed than a tall gear, even if power is the same. The short gear should accelerate better though due to the torque being multiplied by a bit.

The reason why I didn’t bother listing all specs was because Sketch already covered every little detail on his 4 videos and I have all links in the description... but.... someone hacked his big channel and DELETED the channel (big drama) so now all his detailed videos disappeared, he is still trying to recover the channel with Google/KZbin for 4 months now... the motor was same as the Zero motorcycles made by Motenergy

Yeaahh. the motorcycle electric drivetrain can be tuned to 50kW the batteries are even more powerful and can handle even more POWEEEEEERR I think Sketch mentioned motor phase amps in this video but if not check out in the video description I have 3-4 links showing his original videos building this bike and he explains a lot of details about the build =]

Please help. My battery is almost 2 years and it worked perfect until now, it's 52v 17.5ah unitpackpower sanyo ga cell. For some reason it charges only for 4 hours now instead of 8 and milage is twice as low. Master said the bms died but all 70 cells are good. I already ordered new bms on AliExpress and waiting for it. Question is can I ride in this situation until I install new bms? Why it can't charge or discharge fully? System shuts down when voltage gets to 50v. Can you explain how it all works? Is it only bms died as master said or something else could went wrong?

Dmitry Manzano hey mate, I know exactly what’s happening, I actually replied maybe 5 or 6 comments EXACTLY the same as you described, I fixed a few or these packs at work before... the cells are all glued inside and spot welded together because it’s cheaper and they can fit more cells inside a small case. What happens is that these packs “crack” and split in half with vibration or impact or if you drop, then depending where the pack cracks it may completely stops or most commonly disconnects a few cells from a particular series. Then if your pack is 17Ah and suddenly one of the series only has 10Ah the BMS will freak out charging as these cells will get app to 4.2? Much faster than the 17Ah other series and the same will happen when discharging. Before installing a new BMS please check all series with a multimeter and try to twist the pack by hand and see if you can find any crack or any nickel tabs that are looking weird and possibly disconnected from the cells

Peak torque is messaured by volts times amps I belive so 96v x 500amps 49,000 watts peak.

I just asked Sketch about RANGE, the battery was designed to last two supermoto races on a single charge or about 60km normal riding including some FUN full throttle bursts he’ll yeahhh... Not sure if he has any footage drag-racing other bikes but it’s a really cool suggestion =]
