I make my Brunswick stew in the winter time usually. It's great on a very cold day! I freeze left over bbq pork, chicken...and veggies from our garden, during the summer months. When winter comes around, time to clean the freezer...for stews such as Brunswick! Usually, the only thing on the list of ingredients, that I have to run out and buy, is potatoes and lima beans. It's a good way to use up leftovers , like your bbq pork, chicken...and veggies. I make this every year. We love it. can't hardly wait, for winter time to get here! I'm going to try your recipe! I've heard of adding bbq sauce to the recipe, but I never have.

I’m so excited to make this!!! As many other commenters, I grew up about 40 miles N of Atlanta. Of course, growing up in GA, meant I grew up on 😋Brunswick Stew. I’ve been in KY for nearly 18 years & no one here has ever heard of it, they all eat burgew, which I think is 100% different. The recipe we used calls for ketchup, but I’m going to use the crushed tomatoes. Thank you so much for the video, it’s so matter Of fact and not a lot of blah, blah, blah, straight to the point!

Same here. I use ketchup mustard (spicy) and brown sugar to make the bbq sauce and a little more vinegar with white and apple cider vinegar, and its essentially the same. Being a GA boy, I hate seeing all these new BBQ restaurants TRYING to serve Brunswick stew and calling it authentic. They are putting all kinds of things in. Brunswick stew was traditionally made in the fall and winter when they had hog killings when no other veggies except maybe fall corn was available,

From GA to VA, I've been lucky enough to have Brunswick Stew throughout the south and beyond, also a lot of things "called" brunswick stew, but your dish/recipe looks like the closest thing I've seen to some of the best stew I ever had at the long past Melear's BBQ in Union City GA.
