Awesome I just bought a 1952 9n gonna add it to my business part time brush hogging. Thanks for the video

Yeah, I like these old tractors. I wouldn't mind picking up a 9n myself.

I love the sound of that tractor sitting there at idol. The dogs just have to be near by, they're great. Lol Thanks for watching! It means a lot!

Thanks for checking out the channel. I'm quickly realizing the more time I take filming the less time I have to take editing. That's the part I'm trying to improve next.

Cap sent me. On hooking up the brush-hog. Hook up one lift arm first; then the other lift arm (move the tractor forward or back till it lines up) then the PTO, then the Third Arm. It seems to work for me, although my tractors are a wee bit bigger.

I'm more used to man handling things but this brush hog is really heavy. Lol Thanks for the tips, I'll give them a try. And thanks for checking out the channel!

Hey Lloyd! I appreciate it. I'm just a guy building a camp for him and his family. So cool I can share this with someone in Jamaica! That's wild!

Saw you on captains channel too. Got to love those old tractors they can be trouble with a brush hog because the pto has to be running to make the lift work. Thank goodness the newer models ( 600 an so on ) don't work that way. I have a 1956 600 Ford.
@LeeintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean with the pto. To top it off with mine, The shaft to the pto is too long to take off while the 3 point is still hooked up. That's a pain but I love the old tractor. Thanks for checking out the channel!

Try and locate some wild plum trees, and plant in that area. that will be a great treat for all of you. now is the time to locate and flag them. then move and re plant them around Dec. or Jan.
@LeeintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen any on the property. I do have a couple nice apple trees and I need to get them trimmed for better apple growth. I do want to get more fruit trees though. In due time.

This property is our camp first. I have other places I hunt so I'm not too concerned about it.

Thank you! I hope to plant some fruit trees there.

I see you already have some advice on this, but to make it easier you just hook up one arm and move the tractor back and forth, and even the hydraulics up or down to get the two lower arms on. I prefer to hook up the one farthest away first, as pulling away is a little easier on things. Do not hook up the PTO until last. I see others like to use a long pry bar, too, but my brush hog is a lite weight Countyline, so wrestling it around to mount it to my 8n or NAA is not a big deal. And, yes, level ground makes your life easier, too. I did not see you grease the mower and the override clutch, but I assume you know you can not grease them enough? My ORC I literally grease it, spin it a little, grease it again, etc., until you work it all the way around and your confident it is packed. I enjoy brush hogging a little too much, frankly, but sure makes easy(ier) work of reclaiming land.
@LeeintheWoods2 жыл бұрын
Hey Chris. I'll take any advise even if it's repetitive. Just means it's important if more people are saying the same thing. This old brush hog is just so dang heavy you can't move it around by hand at all. I can't put the pto drive on last either since it's really a touch too long. If the 3 point is hooked up I can't collapse the drive shaft enough to make it go on. It's like 1/2" too long. But once it's hooked up it's got enough travel it's not binding. I'm loving brush hogging too but I need to fix the rear wheel. That would make it look nicer. Anyway thanks for watching and for the advise!

@@LeeintheWoods okay I just picked up a 1952 8n and have a 6ft rhino brush hog. Hoping it will run it. Been told it will and some say it won't.

I'm sure it'll run it but it might struggle a bit in thick stuff. I hope it works out for you.

First off dude. Best advice I can give ya. Get a push mower. You've got zero understanding of running older equipment. You have that running while connecting shafts etc. Fords have been known to ghost gears. Think if it would have slammed back into or taken off. Brave soul.
