Brush Styling vs the Rake and Shake Method / A Side by Side Comparison

I started brush styling about 2 months ago. Before that, I pretty much did the rake & shake. It's amazing how much longer I can keep my curls just by brush styling. You are definitely spot on with brush styling lasting longer 👏. That volume though! 👍 I have only been on this curl journey since January 2021. 53 years old & just learning how & what to use! Could have used Social media back in the day 😁! Your channel has been a blessing to me! Tfs! Blessings!

Can I just say how jealous I am that your hair looks great no matter what you do to it? I far prefer brush styling (I feel like it lasts better throughout the days) but I'll go the 'rake and shake' route in the summer, mostly because I know my hair will live in a bun and/or a braid till the next washday, lol.

Wow, idk, I think The rake & shake is every bit as defined as the brush style side, plus you have all that volume!😍 I've never tried the rake & shake because I can't shake this notion that it will make my hair a rats nest lol. In my mind I see no curls forming, and just a sorta 80s style just teased my whole head! Style of hair 😂 But the few people I've ever seen do it end up with great results so I'm not sure where I'm getting that from.

Yeah, it definitely had some definition going on too. Maybe I was thinking the brush side was more clumped? I dunno but I might have to start doing the rake and shake more often! I find that raking and glazing my gel over just doesn’t seem to penetrate well so I actually brush it through.

Brushing definitely helps to evenly distribute the product. I sometimes do it too. Depends on the gel for me. Thank you for watching!
