Brushed vs Brushless: Makita HR140 vs HR166 Performance test (Makita RH02 vs RH01)

What's the difference between brushed and brushless tools?
Here I run these 2 tools head to head in a variety of tasks to see if brushless really makes a difference. I'm using the Makita HR140 & HR166 (AKA Makita RH02 & RH01) as they're almost identical aside from the motor.
I always recommend you buy a brushless rotary hammer if you need one, but how much better are they?
How much better is a brushless motor tool? Are brushless motors better? Are brushless motors worth it?

Firstly thanks for all the effort put in to making these videos- have watched quite a few whilst trying to decide which model to go for! Is there much size difference between the 166 12v and 171 18v?

Although the Brushless was still better in all the test But with the 1.5 times higher price with Brushless compared to Brushed I think the 140 it still suitable for home used right? i want to drill small diameters drill bits into light concrete and Brick

Definitely! It's still totally fine for small jobs and if the lower price suits you better then go for it
