After receiving requests from family members on Brushless Motor Maintenance, I made this video to answer questions and demonstrate how to take apart (if need be) and oil a few motors I have on hand.

it's not warped it's a thrust washer it's meant to be bent so I can take up extra space

If it didn't come with it from the factory I don't and if it did use the blue kind red is far too potent.

Wouldn't it be the same thing if you just put oil inside of there and then spin it and then oil it more how I do it but I use three in one oil

The bearings should be greased or replaced oiling them just flushes the old oil out. Much like wd40 does it can actually harm the motor.

Actually, now that I say that I realize that the stater doesn't even touch anything so it wouldn't make sense to oil it.

What about cleaning the dirt out of the bearings first? The biggest cause in failure is a bearing packed with dirt, and this should be done at least after each day of running.

I recommend dropping the bearings in a small glass container full of lacquer thinner and stirring them around periodically. When they’re done, allow them to sit for a while until the thinner evaporates so when you apply your lubricant it doesn’t eat away at it.

You can actually remove the shield off of either side of a bearing and oil the INTERNALS , then put the shield back on....... That's how i would've done it.

Want to know a better and easier way of oiling the motor? Grab a small sized tupperware fill with any lubricant oil, rennet motor must be wired connected to esc and powered on. Then drown the motor and run it toward and reverse for 30sec and wala. Best way to oil your brushless been doing it for years

I have a 3652 400kv hobbywing brushless it runs good for about 3 to 5 mins then it want go have to cut it off back on to get it to go any suggestions on what it could be

Casey Wachsmann that sounds like it’s either overheating and your speed control shuts it down , could be from a bad bearing needing too much force to spin, or your esc/speed controller is junk. I would try to put your motor In another vehicle with another brushless esc and see if it’s the same case . That could tell you if it’s the motor itself or the speed controller making the motor slow down .

@@caseywachsmann4651 it sounds like the automatic thermal protection system is cutting it off so that your motor doesn’t kill itself. You should probably invest in a heat sink and a motor fan
