Hi guys, welcome to aclaireytale welcome to a brand new city break in Brussels, Belgium!! I show you all the top tips, travel advice in this travel guide of 2 days in Brussels!! Where to stay in Brussels what to do, where to eat. I hope you enjoy!
We started the trip off in London at St Pancras to get the Eurostar! We have breakfast and then board the Eurostar! I show you inside the train, the seats and luggage space. We arrive in France and then Belgium! We get off at Brussels and then head to the hotel we are staying at! We stayed at Hotel Indigo! We weren't the biggest fan of the hotel so I would definitely stay elsewhere when coming to Brussels but it was good for us when leaving as it was right at the train station to go to the airport. We got the tram out of the centre to try a moules frites restaurant we saw on Travel Man! The restaurant was called Le Zinneke and we had a great night! Simon had mussels in Brussels! The menu was a comic book, food was delicious and we had Belgian beer. Then we headed into the city centre and saw La Grand Place for the first time! It was beautiful. We did a bit of shopping and went into the Hard Rock Cafe Brussels and the Starbucks to get the pin and mug that we collect! We saw a Smurfs mural on a roof at the Hilton! The next day it is the morning of our free walking tour! We booked the tour with Guru walking tour and the meeting point was the main square. We were told all about the building at la grand place. We then walk towards the manneken pis! We see some chocolate shops and the Tintin mural! At the Manneken Pis, he tells us why they think he is there, tell us about his costumes and the other weeing statues as well! He then tells us all about Belgian Frites and which ones are the best ones. We try them later on. He takes us into the Galaries Royales Saint Hubert which is where the upmarket stores are and expensive chocolate shops! They have Pierre Marcolini, Neuhaus and Mary. Neuhaus is the home of the praline so we have to try some of those! We went to the Cathedral of St Michael and St Gudula, the royal palace of Belgium and the tour finishes at Mont des Arts. We then go into the comic museum and see Smurfs, Asterix, Obelix, Tintin etc. We go back to Neuhaus and Mary to try the chocolates. We then try the best fries in Belgium and cafe Georgette.
Next it is time to head to the Atomium! I show you how to get to the Atomium by train and I take you around the exhibition. I tell you all about the Atomium and then we get the lift to the top for an amazing view over Belgium.
We head back into the city centre for the best liege waffles we've had! We got them from Galet waffles, we got a plain one and a waffle with chocolate sticks. We visit Jeanneke Pis and Het Zinneke before leaving Brussels and find a couple of the comic strip murals including Asterix and Obelix.

Great vlog. We're planning on going in Jan so this came at the right time. Definitely putting Atomium and Galet on the list? If Simon loves Asterix have you guys ever been to Parc Asterix just outside of Paris? It's a brilliant theme park. When we went a few years ago you could get a transfer from Charles de Gaulle x

Loved learning about Brussels. Who knew that mussels could have some many different ways to be made. We actually have a Neuhaus in Dallas. I have not been in years, but now I want to go buy some chocolates. Your tour guide was so knowledgeable. Loved his insider tips on all the best foods. Those pee statues are very unique for sure. How did I not know the Smurf’s are from Brussels? Sorry about the hotel; too bad it was not the best.

That was fun! Thanks for the tour! Someday we'd love to try real Belgian Waffles, too! Here in the southwest U.S. we top our homemade breakfast waffles with butter and maple syrup OR have them as a dessert with whipped (Chantilly) cream and sliced macerated strawberries and powdered (icing) sugar. What do you top your waffles with when you make them at home?

The comic you didn't knew is Called Lucky Luke. Greats from Brugge. (Btw free Guided tours are great, but they are not official Guides, (in Bruges they aren't..) official Bruges Guides have to do An 3years course on the history of Bruges, and the guide from the free tours has not done that, ... Just something to consider when you go for a tour the next time...

Thank you so much! Yeah the walking tour and Atomium can be done on the same day. The comic book tour is separate though we only saw that Tin Tin one on the walking tour. We just walked to the comic strips we wanted to see :)

Manneke pis actually represents the soul of the Belgians. It's hard to explain but we allways have the underdog mentallity. We feel little compared to the Big important countries that surround us. Just like the smurfs are little in a big world. Same thing. People expect something Grandious but in reality it's just a little image of a boy doing a very common but unexpecting thing. After all surrealism as an artform is typicly Belgian.That is the charm. That is l'esprit Belge. Another way to explain it is little jappy dogs. They are small and not suitable for much of anything like herding catle or garding property but they are the cutest funniest and receive the most love from their humans.

The Atomium and the Manneken Pis aren't worth seeing. So that just leaves the Grand Place the only place in Brussels worth seeing. A whole weekend in Brussels? Why? Go to Bruges.
