Happy to see you playing Kenshi, it's a fantastic game, and Chris Hunt seems to be a chill, and humble guy. They deserve all their success. I find a lot of similarities in X4 to Kenshi. I'm going to have to watch this video later but I hope you enjoy your time in Kenshi's brutal world!

I like how some of the things that in most other games would be a horrible thing to happen, like losing a fight or being sold into slavery, can be a good thing in Kenshi. You get tougher the more you get beat and being enslaved in Rebirth offers one of the best ways to train a lot of skills like stealth, lockpicking, assassination, strength, toughness, and laboring.

Kenshi, when you first start the game, leaves you standing there. Bewildered. Unsure. Confused. Clueless. _Slighy scared!_ And then it gently kicks sand in your eyes and while you're wiping the sand out of them, it beats you to the ground and leaves you there. Helpless and still bewildered, unsure and even more confused and clueless. But now, you're not scared. You think, _"Well... If that that is the worst that can happen!?"_ But that's just Kenshi. It's leading you up the garden path full of false securities and lined with hidden traps and landmines. And while you're in this state head spinning state, you think, _"What else could possibly go wrong?"_ And Kenshi comes along to show you. Again... And again... And again... But after the 10th, 15th or 20th time you've been beaten, half eaten and left for dead and someone yet again, has found you and somehow saved you, you realise that you're stats are actually getting better. You're stronger than you used to be. You're harder to hit. And you also hit harder. So that's a big plus you were not expecting. And then Kenshi comes back for one final time, or so you think, and you wake up in prison. Beaten, battered, maybe even missing a limb... Or two!? And with nothing to your name bar some rags you're wearing. _So... If you want an easy life, then go to China, or Russia, and vehemently complain about their government._ *_But if you want to add some spice to your life... Play Kenshi._*

Apart from the political statement, a very nice summary of the feelings you go through in this game, which makes it difficult for a lot of people to find joy in it. But yeah, if you can make it through tough times you will find something great, just like in real life.

I'm playing X4 right now but I've kind of had the itch to reinstall Kenshi and then I saw that you are now giving Kenshi a shot and it made me chuckle. Kenshi is a terrestrial version of X4 with even less direction but in my experience, a bit more intuitive because the management system is far more simplified. The difficult part of Kenshi is the grind to get stronger. In order to be able to win fights you HAVE to lose fights over and over until you don't. I am actually curious to see what you come up with for guides for Kenshi after watching many of your X4 videos. I haven't watched your gameplay videos yet but a good early game tip is spend the money to join the Shinobi. You gain access to beds to recover from your beatdowns faster and have access to training dummies etc. Also if you have the nerve, work on your stealth because Beak Thing eggs sell for crazy amounts. Enjoy your newest addiction!

I went to south vain and made a little camp, and kept trying to find enough food to keep living. Was a really fun experience. X4 same, story. Iv played so many space survival , economic , rts games... i loved for example rail road tycoon 3. X4 has been a gem if a game.

Kenshi is so alluring, because where you - you got accidental adventures, interesting interactions with world that cares about you less than about local acid rains and so you build yourself and your faction from a scratch into the most powerful tech hunter organization (or cannibals, or maniacs, or conquerors, or ninja-assassins, or traders, or hunters, or kung-fu monks, or bounty hunters, or slavers, or anti-slavers, or religious fanatics, I can do this all day). Kenshi has story, but it's written in unique characters, dialogs (even the most routine ones can give you some tips about area or even deep past of the continent) and lore books (the ones that describe NPCs understanding of world and actually a variation of real facts of the back-story), also you can see the story printed in places and find the facts nobody in the current Kenshi world knows, because you could be the first human to step on soil of some areas for the last few centuries. Books in the game are free to buy in libraries and different places, so from them you can read and understand the faction rules, because all in-game faction have unique rules and behaviour, you will eventually find it hard way (some will enslave you if you do something wrong, some will eat you, some will try to bring you to the righteous fires of their religion, the other ones will give you a shelter just because are no friend with their main enemy). And in the end, you see not just the cruel and maddened world, but world survived two great disasters and tragedies that destroyed it or centuries, brought it's organic and inorganic population to the point of almost non-existence and pushed them back to dark ages, it's like modern society degraded into Medieval and in some places - into tribal culture. The only problem: to see the backstory wired everywhere in the world you first have to survive and find the way to keep your character and his assiciates alive and well.

Happy to see you enjoying Kenshi. Even after more than 2k hours in the game, you'll still want to go back and play again, perhaps making up a challenge for yourself to make the game even harder than it already is, like using a solo character to conquer the entire map, and making your own stories. It's truly a masterpiece.

Just like X4 you can push the simulation as much as your rig and the engine will allow. And the jank kinda sorta feels the same. You'll curse the AI more often than not too. Welcome to Kenshi dude. I can tell you : as a semi veteran to both games you'll probably have a blast like I had. Your X4 series are interesting. I'd definitely like to have some Kenshi from you.
