Hitting a cyan folder drops a little clock icon pickup that gives you extra time.

You gain more time the longer you leave your ball charged before you use your ability. You gained 6 seconds for example at 2750

about the difficulty and the timer not resetting ever, this seems like a heavy skill based game with a little extra chaos modifiers. to me it looks really fun, to reach that level of skill, though it makes sense that someone who tends to only be able to play a short time on most games would like that kind of mechanic a lot less.
