Nice to see SVG up there in his first cup race at a Superspeedway. Imagine what he could do with team mates to support him. It was disappointing to see his run at the top thwarted by a more experienced driver pulling in front of him and bogging down. Lap 114 - The 22 & 2, getting up to speed after pitting, pull up in front of the 17, 41 & 10 going full speed & try to block both lanes. Then on the last lap, the 34, 6 & 10 are leading the field - they block each other again & Reddick wins.

@erikcorr32617 ай бұрын
Lead Changes and green flag passes aren’t the best metric to determine good races from bad ones. I’m pretty sure a “Lead Change” or “Green Flag Pass” can count as a car getting 1 inch ahead of another and the positions change, and considering that the Gen 7’s biggest super-speedway flaw is the grid locking and it being so hard to move out of line, or form a third lane, those positions will swap constantly when they are so locked together, that may look good for metrics, but bad to the naked eye. This is just my opinion, but no this is NOT super-speedway racing at it’s finest, I mean the most recent Atlanta race had 25 less lead changes and I think only 1/3 of the avg. green flag passes per lap, but everyone agrees that race beats any talladega race with the gen 7 TENFOLD.

I would add that McDowell's last block likely would have worked had Brad not gotten that push from Noah. With things moving so quickly, Noah's bump might have come after McDowell's spotter told him to block low. So I agree it wasn't late as far as when he made the decision. Brad just picked up that surge of momentum. The way they touched, the 34 was very nearly there.

As far as the racing goes at superspeedways, I recall Denny saying on his podcast that the Gen-7 car is just too draggy to form a third line and keep it there at full speed. If I had to guess, the windshield duct and the slots in the rear glass probably hinder the car's aero efficiency significantly. Patching those holes back up would probably help the car travel in the wind better, but the main reason those holes were even made in the windows to begin with was to dissipate heat from the cockpit. Idk if NASCAR can come up with something else to fix both issues, but maybe a small power bump to 550 would also help. With the news of Jones tho, obviously I hope he'll be alright. But I have a feeling that Corey Heim (or maybe Almirola?) is gonna be in the #43 Toyota next week. That LMC team meeting is gonna be interesting....

They spent half the race talking about Wendy's.

Wendy’s got a few extra mentions in the Australian V8 Supercars this weekend too just from sponsoring a car way down in the field. It was noticeable.

13:15 @EricEstepp making my point for me why we need old-old true oval ATL back, and Dega should only have one date per year, theres less and less by the super speedway race to make the Daytona 500 feel special anymore as its less unique, same can be said about Phoenix and going their twice a year. Homestead was cool because we only went once, it was truly a beast of its own.

I haven’t seen anyone else mention this about Fox’s coverage, but has anyone else noticed a subtle buzzing during the broadcasts? Or is it just me.
@johnathanjohnston86157 ай бұрын
I felt today was kinda old school. I think they should bring a tire component to the speedways... not obviously blow outs but a fall off that forces a stradgy but also gives the race more dynamics.... not a Bristol tire but you know

I put on the race, saw the anthem.. commercials.. command to start cars.. commercials.. 10 laps.. commercials.. 5 laps commercials.. commercials.. commercials. See a trend there. I passed out before stage 1 ended. Fox should do side by side commercials or I'll just turn off the race and sit out side staring at the wall for 3hrs. Ill watch the extended highlights after. Stupid commercials at stupid times for way longer than they need to be. My groovy gauge: 2. Nascar should pay 10k every 5 laps to the leader. Drivers using 30% throttle? 3hr follow the leader. Lame.

I agree with the fuel saving adding extra strategy and mixing up the field throughout the races, they’ve been very entertaining

Say what you will about the Toyota strategy fail or the flip at the finish, the best part of the race was seeing the American hero Bj McLeod run up and take the lead legitimately in the first stage!

I liked how strategies almost played a role today and independent teams were doing their best to be relevant in this race and Noah Gragson almost pulling out a win for SHR if not for Tyler Reddick sneaking one by on Brad Keslowski to get a win I thought for sure the #6 crew were getting a “W” today coming from a Hendrick Kyle Larson fan 🤘🏻I loved the racing today and agree on the groovey gauge!

Shame on Fox for not following up on Jones. I was asking for a long time after the wreck if he was okay. Found out on Twitter within minutes about his back, the broadcast said nothing. I get not speculating, but when you have the car audio, they can at least say something. They cut away from the shot of the crew bringing out the medical cloth and said nothing else except that it took them extra time to get him out of the car. The angle of that wreck made me extremely worried.

We need to give Fox credit when they make a good change. Both the cup and xfinity race had much better camera angles then they normally do and they weren’t just zoomed in on the leader all the time. Plus I didn’t see a single shot of any kids in the crowd. That’s improvement. It should be applauded. It seems like they got a new director or something

What I do not understand is why it took Nascar so long to get the caution out? Giving Reddick enough time to get ahead and take the lead.

Hey Eric and Out Of The Groove Fans! Bob Pockrass, Jeff Gluck, and others have tweeted out a statement from Legacy Motor Club, which states that Jones has been released from the hospital and will be returning to North Carolina tonight! Hey Erik I think one thing that is missing from the TV Broadcast is the excitement in the commentary. Listened to MRN replay of the final call for the win. You can feel their excitement.

You can always count on John Hunter Nemechek causing disaster he really blew that one and I was a little confused I thought this race was sponsored by Geico but then I thought maybe it was sponsored by Wendy's I saw more dominant Wendy's commercials than I did Geico maybe if they brought the caveman back they'd be interesting anyway nice race Tyler I didn't know they had Mercedes in NASCAR I guess that's why you won it was cool anyway😊

Now Chase Elliott is back on the countdown he's One race without a win I didn't see where Kyle Larson finished and I didn't hear you mention that HMS boys really without the wreck they probably would have finished a lot farther back they really were a non-factor I think at one point I saw Larson spinning sideways in a melee at the end of the race good for him😂
