I'd prefer it if the playoffs, or a system like that (be it the chase format or a rework of the current system) were instead for cash and the championship were a classic full season points system. I think that would provide a much needed rebalance of legitimacy and entertainment in NASCAR. The playoffs we have now allow for more flow between how drivers perform in the rounds than a NBA-style bracket system. The playoff system (esp. the 2014-2016 iteration) rewards drivers equally with better performances during the playoff since advancement is determined by who has the most points. In a bracket, your position can screw you even if you have a good day, because even if you finish second in the race, if your 'rival' finishes first, you fail to advance, even when third place still advances. How is third beating second a good system? We already have issues with legitimacy in the championship and we all know that. Also, NASCAR trying to drive rivalries this way is a blatant cash grab attempt at the expense of sportsmanship. I don't think the sanctioning body takes its role as the premier motorsport in America seriously when they seem more interested in grabbing cash like any other corporation.

I will give this one a 90 as a Reddick fan I am heartbroken and don’t think he did anything wrong sure he has a win already and yes I am sorry about Beuscher not getting his win sticker but I see it that was just 2 drivers going for the win and trying for the same spot on the track but there will come a time when Chris will come out on the right side of things and so will Tyler they are both young drivers and what I like about Tyler is there is no one harder on Tyler than Tyler I saw that in him when he was in the Xfinity series unfortunately I am not as forgiving as you with the guy a I call #Keselunkhead for the run ins between him and Kenneth and I am still not ready to take Ty Gibbs off my hated drivers list but as I always say that is my opinion take it or leave it

Since we are now comfortable crowning multiple champions in a season, can we also add a "full season tournament"? Give the winner 175 points, second place 170 on down to 43 points for finishing 40th. Heck, give 5 bonus points for leading a lap and the most laps. Who knows, it could be fun!

I hope the winner of the tournament follows a brinks truck around the track with money flying out the back. Also not too worried about the first round being too much to follow. First round will basically have everyone’s favorite driver participating so mostly everyone will be following their driver’s matchup closely. Then after that, the 2nd round will be easier to follow on TV

They have to make all the cars equal period. Despite the fact that they build the cars from NASCAR approved parts. The mechanic are not all equal with knowledge of turning wrenches.All motors can crank out the RPMs and HP but the fact that there are like 10 teams running in the Top 20 out of 40 cars fielded. Peeps wanna see better variety in the winner circles. I love NACAR and the current playoff is a mess. It's WTF concept.They gotta do more than fine the beGeezes out of the teams.

Now NASCAR needs to talk with Indycar, IMSA, the World of Outlaws, & the FIA about setting up a post season exhibition race in December (the hosting track rotates every year) featuring the champions from NASCAR, IMSA, World of Outlaws, Indycar, the WEC, the WRC & F1 in a 40 million dollar winner take all race all in equal cars. In addition, the winners of the Indy 500, Daytona 500, the Monaco GP & 24 Hours of Le Mans also qualify for this event if they happen to be different than the season champion in their respective series which raises the prestige of these events & encourages crossovers. It also keeps interest in auto racing as a whole alive during the winter months where there isn't a whole lot of activity going on. In basic terms, this is the old IROC concept but on steroids based on the purse alone which would be the largest purse in racing history. This needs to be done so we can figure out who the greatest racing driver on the planet is for a given year. Also this race would give the NFL or college football a real run for its money in the ratings department especially if it is aired at a time in which everyone that wants to watch it can actually do so.

They lost the plot, please just fix the damn short tracks before we lose them forever. How are we talking new manufacturers, new in season contests, etc etc. We are getting real good on the 1.5 miles and i love watching them. Please just save our short tracks first and foremost. #goodyearsaveoursport

I like it. A modern take on the Winston Million or the No Bull bonus. It's something to spice up the the regular season while not actually affecting the overall picture, doesn't change the points system, doesn't change the playoffs. It's a harmless, hopefully fun addition.

Denny my a$$. The NBA had success with their in season tournament this season. It's not a new concept. Regardless, I love this in season tournament. It'll be fun.

So long as they do all five formats, I'm super down. I'd propose starting off at Nashville, then hitting up a short track like Richmond/Bristol, then run to Atlanta, penultimate round at Chicago Street, and finally crown the champion at the Brickyard 400 This way the weaker teams have a chance to advance even if the ovals aren't their bread and butter

On the NASCAR playoffs thing, I don't really watch any sports so I was really confused when the NBA was calling there just normal bracket championship a "playoff" when you can't even have playoffs in not motorsports because it just doesn't work like that and they just have a normal bracket championship. Then my brother explained to me NASCAR's are the special ones, so therefore it is stupid that NASCAR changed the name from the Chase because it is confusing that all those other sports have "playoffs" but they are totally different from the ones in Americas premier, most popular port (probably, I'm not looking up stats).
