@@lordcootsI’m 20, 5K PR 28 minutes, terrible cardio. On a gap year off college. I have 24 hours a day to train and advance my goals, if I was hellbent on improving my cardio, what could I do with all my time? Running every day probably fine but twice a day probably overtraining. More isn’t better. So how do I make use of all my time

Never had one but upping your vitamin d and calcium, not putting weight on it, increasing blood flow with massage or compression. And giving it time. Also build back slowly. But I’m not a doctor.

Well, races come and go but you can always bring down your times. Are you allowed to conspire with the talent at Arkansas and/or Alabama to lower your 5K PR at SECs or one of those races in that region? You should make sure you get a fast pace bc you're probably capable of going sub-13:30 and maybe even sub-13:25?

I’m not yaseen by any means but If you’re still looking for advice I would say you have a long time to work with - build your mileage slowly and try to increase it (within reason) and be aware of how your body feels (strength train at home etc since a lot of times injuries come from weakness somewhere). Be present in races and you gotta love what you’re doing
@Zitrico
@Zitrico 9 ай бұрын
@@B3b0_W3b0 Thanks for the advice! Is building mileage really that helpful? I've heard it from a lot of people but i'm not really sure how or why it helps that much. I just thought you should run your interval workouts/track workouts faster to build speed.

Should I build up to around 55 miles a week (can run 4 40 right now) to break 4 30 in the mile. Don't want to overtrain but I'm used to 40-50 miles a week. Btw I'm a HS freshman.

I ran 4:13 as a senior in HS last year and almost never went over 40 miles in high school, I would say don’t build up too early and it’s more important to be intentional with the mileage you are running than just adding more mileage on

JUST PLAY THE RACE AND THEN COMMENT. This stop start nonsense is juat irritating - like 'I got off the line really well, I always get off the line well ' Its a 5000m race, I raced at all levels to GB National level and NEVER heard that, who gives a shit, its a 12 1/2 lap race. This may be a reason why you finished 12th, over-thinking the start says to me you're too hyped for this race - therefore your body (NOT YOUR MIND) will physically expend too much energy in the beginning, so when you mind says 'OK lets move up' there's little there . I like the fact you're trying this but maybe keep it to just what was going through your mind at the time in the race, thats what I think people would like to know - just that - it also takes courage to show a bad race, but racing is a Craft, you have to learn it, so enjoy the practicals
