You threw me for a loop when you said that there was nothing wrong with marketing towards petite girls because most of the time it’s hard for really small people like me to find clothes that fit and instead of getting angry about a clothing line that won’t fit everyone you said it was ok. I still have to roll up the size zero jeans because they’re too long but I can’t buy from the younger section because they don’t fit my post puberty frame. Besides most of the time the smaller sizes are nowhere to be found because people like buying their clothes in smaller sizes to make them tighter. My 5’8” friend and I are supposedly like 1 or 2 sizes apart even though she’s 7” taller than me. Bodies come in all different shapes and sizes. Clothes shopping is difficult for all kinds of people.

And still, just because in your opinion you don't need something, it doesn't mean it shouldn't exist. Businesses are allowed to create whatever products they want, whether they cater to the majority or the minority. Not that I'm a fan of emma's clothing brand but still. At the end of the day, stop going off on the brands that don't cater to your needs and find the ones that do, because they do actually exist, and there's quite a lot of them too.

The problem with the way this was marketed was that it was basically saying “if you’re a cool girl you’ll buy this”, and by saying that and then only offering a size small, that’s kinda fucked. Idk I like Emma but this was not the move.
@tristensnyder40716 жыл бұрын
Here's the thing, she's not even trying to make a clothing line that caters to more petite people. If she were, I would have no problem with that just as I would have no problem with there being a brand that only carries plus sizes. But just having one size caters to no one but that one size. I generally have to buy xxs-s and 00-0, and most of my clothes are still baggy and oversized. If this were a line for more petite sizes, she would have sizes below a small as well. But putting all that aside, her clothing line is for her fans. If she were a brand specifically only in clothing, then yeah go ahead and cater to certain groups. But she's not. If the line is truly for her fans then she should've had sizing options for everyone.

Maybe because vs literally says that bigger girls dont fit their fantasy and transgender girls are not allowed on the show. +the models literally starve themselves, which is not a good example to set for people. As a person who never heard of Emma until now, i can definitely say that for a KZbinr it's a lot more surprising to make a clothing line that caters to only one size since this platform is COMPLETELY reliant on viewers worldwide than seeing a brand make products for people of a certain size/body type. It wasn't a smart choice for her to not make her clothing line size inclusive for many reasons. I can't really form an opinion on her since i don't watch her content, but i think that she should fix this issue quickly before things continue to go down hill for her. Whether it be to make more sizes or marketing the line as a petite clothing, she should really do something about this.

Girl, I *am* the target audience of a size small only line and unless, as you said, it is a petite line specifically, I still think that's ridiculous. Even a petite line should have some variation unless it is a one size fits all situation. Just check out ASOS and Nordstorms' petite clothing sections - they, too, have S, M, and L because womens' (or anyone's) bodies don't tend to fit into just one or two groups. Plus size lines have different sizes as well. I don't even know who Emma Chamberlain is, so no bias involved - I just think it's bad marketing to make clothes only for one size.

This is not the same as a plus size clothing line at all. First of all, it is not difficult at all to find a size small kn any store unlike plus size clothing. There is also no stigma around wearing a size small, again, unlike plus size clothing. It wouldn't be bad if it were actually a petite clothing line like where clothing is actually made differently on order to cater to petite sizes i.e. pants are shorter, sleeves are shorter, shoulder straps smaller etc. And it cater to maybe sizes xxs-M. That would be perfectly fine and would be somewhat comparable to a plus size clothing line. What Emma did was just unfair and not at all inclusive for even the average teenage girl which is her demographic.
@limner1235 жыл бұрын
I don't disagree with you in spirit; there's just something distasteful about a size small clothing line.. But I used to date a girl who as a grown up woman had to buy clothes from the kids' section because it IS hard to find clothes that fit on the really small end too.

Also, I think this is a publicity stunt. Having only one size of clothes will create major publicity, even tho it is negative. Then you have a bunch of people talking about it, reviewing it, and wishing they could buy it if only if it were in their size. Then you get a wider range of sizes and the line will already be very well-known and all those people who wanted to buy before will buy it now. I don’t know if that makes sense, but that’s what I thought. 😂

@ezzadavie19136 жыл бұрын
I don’t think there is an issue with a brand catering to size small only. I think the issue is that most stores already have size small and people that are a size small can go almost anywhere and have there size. Whereas, girls who need a bigger size than large are very limited in their choices. I am a size small and I can go anywhere and find something. Some of my friends that are larger can only find their size in certain stores. For them sometimes more than half the shops in the shopping centre don’t cater to their size. I’m not sure if it is like this in America (I’m from Australia)
@maggie30746 жыл бұрын
I totally get your point, but at the same time, someone who fits in a size small in one store may not fit in a size small somewhere else. I am a size XS to S and I can NEVER find clothes that fit me right! And part of that is that there are 7.8 billion different body types and it would be financially stupid to make such different sizes. I totally understand people feeling upset that stores don’t have their size because I can relate. However the s m l sizing is because that is where the large majority of people fit, which can make it really hard for anyone bigger or smaller to find a nice fit. I understand that it’s frustrating to not fit into her clothes if you want to support her, but for someone like me who can’t find good fitting clothes this is that of a plus size store for someone else. I think we are all just a little oblivious to what doesn’t affect us. I have never seen a store only target smaller body types and not get hate for it, but plus size stores never get hate. It’s a hard double standard that sometimes makes me feel like crap for shopping at some of the only stores that fit me right, because they don’t cater to someone else’s body type, even though they shop at stores I can’t. The double standards are there.

umm, yeah it would be. Having a line that caters to small sizes isn't wrong. But it doesn't seem like that's what the EC line was doing, bc if so, why not have xs, and xxs sizes? Like a plus size brand doesn't only sell 1X. That would def super weird. That's why it almost seems like the line was sending a message "if you can't wear this oh well" Bc size small is so specific, like _"we aren't for extra small sizes, we aren't for bigger sizes either, if you don't fit this only size, you don't get to wear my brand. byeee!"_

@Katherine Patricia Briseño Monge Low Key by Emma, when the clothes were blurred, was the soft launch a few weeks before the non-blurred full launch of High Key by Emma, distributed through Dote. Dote is a multi-million dollar company based in San Francisco, CA, USA. It is an app primarily for clothing, a sort of mini-Amazon. Emma Chamberlain is their superstar with over 100K followers on Dote, which allows for public accounts, hence Dote's decision to create a clothing line with Emma. Emma, who is 17, picked the designs but it is the adults with college degrees in finance and public relations who made all decisions about manufacturing, which was subcontracted to UNIF and made in the USA, pricing, and marketing. Prices were later lowered after the first batch sold out in two hours. There are now 100+ KZbin unboxing videos by fans who actually bought these items, most of which are very positive as a free pop socket, key chain, and in some cases an extra scrunchie were included, and the fans almost all remark the clothing materials are very high quality.

I think Emma is an amazing creator, and very funny. But this clothing line is disappointing. Yes, they are cute but there are girls in this world who aren’t a size small, but admire her fashion! I hope she expands her sizing!

I LOVE this video!! It’s so real and personal! I also love the way you film! I’m new to KZbin and trying new things. I love all of your backgrounds, so this is so great seeing all of this & having the ability to grow from it!
