So Sigma is STILL the champ in APSC with their many year old lenses, this lenses are pretty mediocre at best to be honest, great review Jason, it really helps out because I ALMOST pulled the trigger on these lenses !
@JasonMorrisphotocinema Жыл бұрын
The biggest benefit compared to sigma is that extra bit of light being an f1.2 rather than f1.4
@Eyeofkamau11 ай бұрын
I heavily disagree with that one 😅
@AndyLSB11 ай бұрын
@@Eyeofkamau well that’s up to you man, I have the sigmas and they don’t perform as this, soft results wide open and heavy chromatic aberration.
@JasonMorrisphotocinema11 ай бұрын

@Eyeofkamau11 ай бұрын
@@AndyLSB of course, all opinion. The contemporary series has a lot of CA, except for the 56mm, and maybe the 18-50 (which I haven’t owned. The 16 and especially the 30 have a lot though. The 30 has more than these sirui lenses in my experience. I’d say their build quality is worse than these, though they are sharper. Neither have aperture rings. The 56mm beats sirui’s 56mm by miles in terms of IQ but has little to no character. Really depends on one’s taste. If we’re talking IQ. Viltrox’s PRO series have the crown, especially with the incoming Lab series’ (which is said to be even better than the Pro) 135mm f1.8. Sigma’s 18-35 is solid though. And I wish they would make their Art series glass available for APSC mounts outside of Emount. But for me, Tamron and Viltrox have an edge on sigma when it comes to apsc glass

Like the honesty in this one man. It's nice to actually know what you are getting. I like the teeth on the cine lens, I would like to get one someday BUT I would probably spend more to get "sharper" and less chromatic aberration... I use Fuji cameras these days... I own the XF series but the cine lenses from Fuji are a little on the overly high priced side for a not bright lens

I really appreciate your reviews and can't think of a more perfect example, as to why, than this. While so many others have completely bashed these lenses, choosing to focus on the negatives, you came out and said, "Here's both sides of the coin." Next to Gerald, you're one of the most honest and straightforward reviewers, I've come to rely on, and unlike Gerald, who's great for the detailed technical stuff, you give me the practical use case information. Between the two of you I feel extremely informed about potential purchases. Plus, I just love your content man. Way to keep it 💯, much love.

Just got my 23mm, there is a pretty dramatic Vignette when i try to shoot video on my fx3, is this something you experienced?
@AustinGrader9 ай бұрын
The FX3 is a full frame camera, these lenses are made for 35mm or APSC (crop sensor) cameras. That's why Jason used the fx30 which is a cropped sensor camera for this video. There is nothing (physically) you can do to remove the vigenetting from your footage other than cropping in or using crop mode on your FX3, which will still get good results but you will lose some resolution to your footage shooting in crop.

With these being APSC lenses are they 1.2 or 1.8 (with crop factor)?
@dcoll9885 ай бұрын
1.2, but the FF equivalent of a 1.8 for depth of field. You will always have the crop factor effect on focal length and depth of field even if the lenses are designed for aps-c. But the light gathering ability is still 1.2 regardless of crop factor.

@WEHAVETHISDREAM11 ай бұрын
Why rushed? People in China work like 24/7. There aren’t many guys in a team, who see things the way actual filmmakers / video makers do. Filmmakers in China just do movies and a lot of improve. They don’t debate for 6 months on what lens to use. “Time and Tide”… And so many others, I assume, just did what they suppose to.
