G’day Coop! Thanks for reviewing our UX1! We’re glad you loved the FOLD. We hear you on the front uprights. This was a decision made by our engineers to reduce the weight of the folding sides. Our stress tests were extremely positive, so safety is not an issue. Plus all of our machines are covered by our Lifetime Structural Warranty. The “Live” feature of our smith bar still offers a locked-in vertical plain, but adds a bit more freedom to the horizontal roll which helps stabilise your core. Our other foldable model, the UM2, does offer around 60% less roll for that more traditional smith movement. Rest assured, the safety and stability of the smith on the UX1 is still there. Despite having ample weight on the stacks, as you mentioned, for those heavy hitters that require more for their lat pull downs and rows, they can add the plate horns to the stack for up to 200lbs extra weight by removing one of the metal shrouds at the back. As for installation, our customers are reporting completion time of around 6 hours (one even states he had it done in 3.5 hours!). We have assembly guide videos to follow along with the extensive assembly manuals that come with the machine. Keep an eye out for our future products. We have some exciting stuff in the works. If anyone has any questions, we’re happy to answer them!

The "live" feature isn't a bad idea, but would be even better if you had the option to lock them out. That way you can get the best of both worlds and choose between complete free-weight, partially stabilised, or fully stabilised.

Coop, any chance you'll review the MAXUM Fitness SX2 all-in-one next!?! Seems like the best mid/high-end option on the market both in terms of value and versatility since it uses standard 3" x 3" 11-gauge steel with 5/8" holes and has unique articulating functional trainer arms, leg press plate, removable smith machine counterbalance, and built-in weight horns to augment the dual 220lb stacks. Coop, would be cool if you could do some sort of weight capacity test showing the difference between 16, 14, 12, and 11-gauge steel so people could know what may practically limit them or be unsafe for their use case! I know you've done the drop tests on the Fitness Reality rack but an updated version comparing budget/thinner steel to thicker would be really interesting to see! Especially with shorter drops simulating re-racking a heavy bar onto J-cups or something and/or bailing using spotter arms vs a full rack.

Think these are perfect for European markets where space is at a premium.

I have seen it before. The folding is cool for small spaces, but the only folidng rack people actually seem to fold are the PRX ones because it is soo easy. Seems like other than maybe making room for a car in a garage the folding is not practical given it is still pretty compact unfolded. Personally, for an all in one i probably wouldn't care much about the folding.

So... I had reservations about the thickness of the steel but after talking to a company rep he highlighted the quality of the steel matters. I researched it and quality of steel can make 16 guage steel stronger than 11 guage steel even with conservative estimates. Before people crap on them about the guage of steel we should understand the quality of the steel. If they are growing as a business and rating the cage to support equally high weights as competitors then they are probably using higher quality but lighter steel options. Going with higher quality thinner steel makes moving the racks easier while being just as strong potentially. Things to consider... I ordered one and am excited to see how it performs compared to what I assume were cheaper quality steel cages that I've had in the past.
@anthony867018 күн бұрын
Any updates on the steel performance?
@dcoderjr18 күн бұрын
@anthony8670 it's perfectly fine. I weight 290lbs (getting back in shape) and don't have any warping using the the dips. There's no wobbling when using the pullups bars. I have the lat pull seat which I sit on it. I use the full stacks with no issues. I rep 300 squatting and 225 for bench on smith machine with no issues and full confidence. I believe it will do what it's rated for. I've seen thicker steel warp from less so the steel quality matters a lot. They're really responsive on support too so I believe they would address any issues under warranty.
