@@bryancoleman6817 hey bryan! love this piece and i wanted to ask a quick question. what is the benefit of using lights for the scan vs rendering that out in after effects and applying it as an emission texture? and why not use cineware/export camera tags/object tags for the tracking in after effects? Im interested in these workflow questions since I have to make a few of these types of renders - thanks for any help!
@bryancoleman68173 жыл бұрын
@@kiron6753 there are so many different ways to achieve similar results. It's all up to how comfortable you are with a particular work flow. There are no "right way" to do something in 3D. Its up to the user. I'd love to see your technique.
@kiron67533 жыл бұрын
@@bryancoleman6817 agreed - just wondering if you knew something i didnt! my thought was to do all the 2D motion work in after effects and render out a few separate layers which you could then apply to the emission node of the material. and in terms of the tracking, im sure you know this but you can open c4d files in AE (in the comp with the c4d render) and it imports the camera/lights and anything with an external compositing tag which means you dont have to worry about tracking anything manually - would be a good timesaver i think!

Hi Bryan - I think pretty much, like everone else, not only is your work fantastic and inspirational for someone like me who is just starting out in MoGraph but this is a great tutorial too. I do have a Q though and it's quite simple. I'm on C4D, on an iMac Pro. I use Corona renderer because main renderers (Octane etc) don't work On Mac well because of the issue with GPUs. However you look like you'r running Redshift on a Mac. Do you run an external GPU? I'd like to use a more main stream renderer as this would make me more adaptable in the work place and there are some things missing in Corona that is annoying. Any advise would be great and thanks again for this tut.
@bryancoleman68174 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark, I used a PC for this presentation. You can rent them for cheap to test them out which I'd recommend. I also have an imac with an eGPU which works well. I don't know anything about Corona, but I've used Arnold (cpu vs gpu), Redshift, and Octane for all of my work.

Quick question: You are using the same displacement texture in the beginning but duplicating the texture node. Would this use more gpu ram compared to just one texture node? All your adjustments are made in the nodes after.
@bryancoleman68174 жыл бұрын
You could do that yes. Its easy to forget to keep it simple sometimes.

Hi. Thank you for your tutorial. Its great! But I have a older version of RedShift and dont have spread option in area light. How can I do this beams without this option? Thanks for the answer!

Try just using physical geometry to "shutter" the light ( ie 2 cubes with a small gap between them, which allows the light to pass through ). Not exactly the same effect but comparable.

I'm new to Cinema4d, can you guys tell me if this project can be done without REDSHIFT? I'm using the student Version of C4D. I don't rly unserdtand what Redshift does, why is a different renderer always used in so many tutorials? (Like Octane for example) Why can't I just use the regular C4D renderer? Thanks in advance :)
@TheArtofme4 жыл бұрын
Kater Clickbait GPU renderers like octane and redshift are quicker and look more realistic. It just depends on what you’re doing though. Usual work flow is to Start with native c4d and then move onto redshift,octane, Arnold etc .
@yobooboy55914 жыл бұрын
No they don't look more realistic. They are just faster and they are also limited compared to CPU based renderers. You can only dream about Arnold or Maxwell realism using Redshift. But it's good enough for most cases and it's extremely fast.
