Let's hear it for the backing vocals too. Always have loved Mr Ferry has lasted the pace far better than most and has always been authentic and keeps music live. No miming here. One of the North East's greatest creators. Not bad for a miners son imo.👍👍

Although Neil Young's original of this song is fantastic, I feel Bryan Ferry has put his mark on it and given it a more sexy edge. Can watch this over and over... love it... Gorgeous!

Bryan Ferry `simply` takes a song and gives it his magic touch both musically and vocally. His own interpretation of a song is ALWAYS better than the original!
@jb13972 жыл бұрын
@@martinmcdonald4207 I’m afraid it doesn’t even come close to the original, never mind all the live versions that NY has done of this over the years. Some originals just can’t be bettered, though he did make good attempt at Jealous Guy.

Fantastic version. The groove is totally different from Neil's version, and that, to me, is what makes it. Maelen and Newmark trading between each other, and locking in. Phil's solo at the end is inspiring (I play guitar). Thank you for posting this.

Wow! - Talk about putting your mark on a song! I never thought I'd hear a version more than I liked Neil Young's! Bryan gives it a whole different feeling - this version feels sexier and much more plaintive than Neil's but not desperate which I think is really hard to do - there's a fine line between sounding plaintive but not desperate, something that I think is very hard to do. And the band is obviously having a great time performing . Fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this!

Once I thought I saw you In a crowded hazy bar Dancing on the light From star to star Far across the moonbeam I know that’s who you are I saw your brown eyes Turning once to fire You are like a hurricane There’s calm in your eye And I’m gettin’ blown away To somewhere safer Where the feeling stays I want to love you But I get so blown away I am just a dreamer But you are just a dream You could have been Anyone to me Before that moment You touched my lips That perfect feeling When time just slips Away between us On our foggy trip You are like a hurricane There’s calm in your eye And I’m gettin’ blown away To somewhere safer Where the feeling stays I want to love you But I get so blown away Once I thought I saw you In a crowded hazy bar Dancing on the light From star to star Far across the moonbeam I know that’s who you are I saw your brown eyes Turning once to fire You are like a hurricane There’s calm in your eye And I’m gettin’ blown away To somewhere safer Where the feeling stays I want to love you But I get so blown away

How far afield can Bryan Ferry go, but to a Neil Young song? Yet he owns it here! (Nothing against Neil Young's version. I loved his version first, before I ever listened to Bryan Ferry. So different, but both men's versions are essential, if you love the song.)

Yeah, I see your point. Purely from my opinion though, even though I love the Neil Young original, the Roxy Music version just adds a whole new dimension to the song which I think just works so well. Just like Jimi Hendrix made All along the Watchtower his own.

There's a saying that goes something like this, IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT. That's one reason why I'm not a fan of cover version. BUT this is one of those rare occasions that song took a great song and made it GREATER! Another example would be Streethearts version of the Rolling Stones Under my Thumb. Check it out if you can find it. Be Well.

At Newcastle University in the 1960's I turned down the singers gig in a band because I was doing an engineering degree and time demand was too much. They asked a fellow doing an 'art' degree (daubing paint) instead - Mr Ferry. Done well hasn't he? I do this song, just me and the guitar. I bet he couldn't do that. I backed him once on bass at a uni gig. My fave Roxy song was 'love is the drug' and we did that in my band through the 1990's. Prefer Neil's versions (multiple) of this song.
