Learn new details about defendant Bryan Kohberger's car ride home with his father, Michael, in December of 2022, after the crime in Moscow, Idaho. I'll also be talking about Bryan's surprise tummy tuck after losing more than 100 pounds in high school. These new tidbits come from reporter Howard Blum's new book about the crime and Bryan Kohberger, "When the Night Comes Falling."

It sounds like Blum interviewed Bryan Kohberger's parents and also some contacts willing to talk despite gag order. I guess Blum wanted to get a jump on the case...

@@BedCrimeStories Why would Kohberger's parents do an interview with Blum or anybody else? I'm thinking YOU are assuming much too much here. Blum does not name any of his sources.... and that is totally sus.

A nurse here...the reason that the panniculectomy or the removal of the excess skin of the abdomen is almost always able to be covered by a patients medical insurance is because having a large amount of excess skin that is then folded down over the rest of the skin underneath almost always causes abscess's or boils under the fold of skin. Under that fold it is dark and moist due to sweating which is almost always a perfect combination for bacteria to breed, leading to boils and abscesses filling with pus which often need to be drained and therefore it is almost always deemed to be medically necessary and therefore covered by a patient's medical insurance. Now, as far as the tummy tuck, I can't explain that one because that would be considered cosmetic and I don't know how they would get that covered but as far as the skin removal that I can tell you a definitive reason for it being covered by medical insurance. Hope this gives you some insight...

Thank you for the explanation. That makes perfect sense. I've seen episodes of My 600 Pound Life or whatever it's called, and they show how hard it is to keep those places clean and dry. So sad.

My mom had to have this done and her insurance refused for a while but finally paid for it in the end after a lot of appealing. It absolutely is necessary for the reasons you stated.

In order to believe his book, he would have had to have talk directly with Brian's dad or Brian.I don't believe either One of them talked to him.

I agree with you. It has been stated by others that his book is filled with the phrase "I believe." That tells you its full of lies and is pure fiction. He's covering himself for any potential future lawsuit.

Hey, T. I’ve got some experience with insurance and “cosmetic” procedures. I had bariatric surgery and lost 180 pounds. I want and need abdominal surgery, the same surgery BK had done. I haven’t been able to get my surgery covered but you can get the surgery covered if you are having complications due to the excessive skin. For example, if BK was having repeated infections and skin breakdown under the skin folds, that could be a reason that insurance would cover the cost of the skin removal surgery. It is always “based on medical necessity”.

180 pounds! That's incredible! Congratulations!!!! Yes, it sounds like if you get infections under the skin, insurance will cover it.

The dialogue is clearly made up. Much of what he writes however, are facts we know. Some seems to come, per Blum, from people who speak to the Kohbergers.

T, often with large weight loss an extra skin removal is done. The skin doesnt just pop back into its former position. The extra skin can cause a lot of problems with movement and skin irritation and infection. 😊
