Mounted my 46” tv with 2 lag bolts into stud and 2 toggles into drywall . Works great and tv is still on wall 😅. My studs were 24” apart for some reason and I had no other option than to use toggles . They worked.

how did it go, did you get your tv mounted using a drywall anchor?
@kaututang-dila21898 ай бұрын
The toggle screw is solid no doubt and will carry whatever weight it is rated for, the only problem I fear is in time the drywall will not hold and will slowly give in and crack. Its the drywall I fear that will not hold.

I just did it too same tv mount same toggles but i used three. Worked like a charm for a 43" TV
@ChrisMoran14 ай бұрын
Thanks for posting this. I've had a bag of these toggles for a few years and installed a 55" TV that happened to have a stud, so I only needed to use two of these on the other side, but was nervous about putting a tiny 43" (15 lb) up with a similar mount as yours in this video in JUST drywall. I guess drywall is stronger than I'd have expected.

I almost always just use wall anchors for traditional mounts, except for those types of mounts. Since there’s only two anchors and the weight is carried way differently I put those on a stud. Snap toggles are a superior anchor at least.
@Gadgetmawombo Жыл бұрын
I prefer to put a bridge board made of solid plywood between 2 studs and mount the TV to that. I don't doubt that these could hold the TV up tho but a bit more insurance you know?

@medabee1322 Жыл бұрын
How do u do this?
@Gadgetmawombo Жыл бұрын
@@medabee1322 What do you mean? Exactly like I said. You find the studs, I like to use a tiny nail and just nail holes over and over in horizontal pattern till I find the studs. You feel it because the nail wont just go thru. But it leaves a tiny hole so no issues you can just use a tiny bit of caulk to fill them in or just leave them. Once you find two studs side by side, you take a board longer than 24 inches and screws that board to the two studs. Studs will be 12 16 or 24 inches apart if your building was made right, so a 24 inch board or longer will cover your bases. Then you screw the TV mount to THAT board, plywood is really strong, almost as strong as REAL wood, and definitely stronger than using these anchors.

@BryanBuilt Жыл бұрын
I cant say for sure brother. Always safer to try and anchor to the studs. I have used this on metal studs with a 60-inch tv for a job we installed. it is still up but we were able to find one of the studs on one side. we used a metal bit to drill the hole through it and ran the toggle bolt through it. I think anything over like 50 inches in a little sketched out unless i find a stud to anchor to.

Toggle bolts are supposed to hold a lot of weight, but when they fail, they can fail catastrophically. Huge chunks of wall crashing to the ground with your tv. There is a reason studs have been a mainstay of heavy item installation.

Yes but the whole wall doesn't have studs and a lot of the times things are being hung where they are no studs available. I've hung a few displays using those toggle bolts and a couple of them weighed nearly 200lbs. these toggle bolts hold up very well I always hang from the mounts and do a couple pull ups as a test, I fluctuate at around 200 lbs.
@pdxmetal11 ай бұрын
@@jaynonchalant9176 There's a big difference between hanging on the wall for a few seconds and hanging 200lbs on the wall 24/7. Toggles are an alternative when theres no studs but most displays these days are fairly light. I wouldn't hang a heavy plasma or other 100+ display relying only on the strength of the gypsum if I could avoid it.
@cautionthisissparta10 ай бұрын
Yeah, I wouldn't trust this in drywall - the material is going to fail before the bolt. I'd only trust these in something like knotty pine or plywood.

@BryanBuilt Жыл бұрын
True. Im keeping an eye on it to make sure but so far no issues. Its a cool product with alot of uses
@pdxmetal Жыл бұрын
There are many instances where drywall has been weakened. If you're a renter and past tenants have all hung and patched on the same wall, if there was mold or water damage and the maintenance guy just came and threw some mud and paint on it... Throw a 100lb plasma on it without studs and watch half the wall come down. Never trust drywall alone for heavy stuff.
@PC-xj2mwАй бұрын
NO.. Do NOT use toggle bolts on drywall only. At least one (preferably more) of the bolts must be in a stud (use lag screws on wood studs or toggle bolts on metal studs).

Are there toggle bolts strong enough to hold 65 or 75 inch TV or is that too heavy? Using 4 Bolts per bracket?
@BryanBuilt2 жыл бұрын
According to the box each one can hold 250lbs . I tested a single one in another video and the max it held was 175 and that was only for a few seconds. I would be cautious with a tv that size. The largest i have hung on just drywall is a 48 in
@npip99 Жыл бұрын
I'd suggest one stud on one side, and then maybe 4 drywall toggle bolts on the other side. 2 top 2 bottom, kinda spaced out. Worked great for me on my 65 inch no give or play at all. I put 3 on top just in case actually, bc it's a lot of weight pulling on the top imo. Esp for 75 inch if you do only drywall I think you need at least 1 stud. Remember even if the TV is really solidly connected to the drywall, the entire drywall can come down if the weight in-between two studs is too high.
