It's always the songs that the artists don't think much of that become the biggest hits.

Wow! It's crazy that they didn't hear the classic that 'Tell Me' was. That song is quintessential 90s R&B. It's one of the few R&B songs that Hip Hop clubs would play on the regular. It's also one of the few songs that perfectly captures the musical landscape of NY circa 1995. It perfectly blends that laid back jazz influenced Boom Bap sound with the emerging Neo Soul vibe. The song is a classic, so it's kinda weird to hear Bryce being so nonchalant about it... Lol.

Yo it’s crazy that you say that because I tell people all the time that tell me is really the first song to kick that neo soul sound off

@@18ajlucas - I agree that it is the first to kick off that neo soul sound. Not sure why Angie Stone keeps claiming it as her own....but everyone has an opinion.

Never knew Bryce was part of Mantronix!!! SALUTE to Bryce, and Amel! I thought Groove Theory was DOPE! Tell Me is DEFINITELY one of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE Joints!!!

There was a remix of this that hit the air in Baltimore and D.C. and that joint was crazy. I have it on cassette tape in my closet. Weekends was mix song night on the radio. So if you had a duel cassette deck at home. You put 2 blank tapes in it and hit record. You then had 1.5 hours of song mixes on your tapes to go through. So you could make your own mix tape. 🎵🎶🎼🔊

Crazy: Epic thinking Amel is the star, though he started it. Wow, u had to be down with Andre Harrell, Russel Simmons or Puffy, in NY. But Bryce chose the other way, to Atlanta, with Jermaine Dupri & Dallas Austin. Nice story!.👍🏾

Epic saw potential in them both believe it or not. They pushed for them to do and be more. They wanted them both to model at one point

@@dametaylortyler4975 True. But they focused more on her, thinking she was the brain child. That’s when she should’ve said, “It’s not like that. He’s the sound & I’m the voice, & we’re a team!” Loyalty is hard to come by. That’s why I like Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. It’s rare to find two business partners stick together just with a hand shake, a gentleman’s agreement!.

@@pbodyblaque2532Not sure if Amel's husband Laru was instrumental in how things played out, the way in which she was showcased.

@pbodyblaque2532 They didn't focus on her because she was the brain child. She was the star. The thing you can see and market. A "Star" is different from the brain child. When the monster is created, all they need is the monster. They don't care who created it. They can get someone else to write the songs. What matters, in their mind, is what's on the package. They can bottle up whatever and whoever.

@@JloveLamar Ur twisted!. The Brain Child was Bryce!. There are a million mullato chicks that can write & look pretty, but it takes the Brain Child to put it together. Don’t forget, when she went solo, she would barely come off, & ppl were looking for the same strong production. She fell short.

I knew it wasn't Amel or Bryce. That ugly divisive and competitive industry tore them apart. They hate REAL talent as he stated. Such a shame.
