I don't think Gavin has changed. The man that interrupted Gavin's interview was Rod Morgenstern, the author which Gavin heavily plagiarized from when writing his first book. While Rod gets credited as a coauthor for any books he wrote with Gavin afterwards, Gavin still put himself in the spotlight and highlighted himself as a literary icon, not mentioning his partner. Rod is only shown to us as a shadowy backroom character that has no choice but to work with Gavin. Funny enough, they write "adult romance" - literature that's usually considered trashy in the literary world, more focused on achieving bestseller status (something that Gavin likes to highlight) rather than literary merit. Gavin's need of inflating his self importance has not gone away.

@MsJavaWolf4 жыл бұрын
Silicon Valley has pretty decent writing. For example my favourite episode of the show is the day of the condor, where they have the live stream and Richard goes to arbitration. That was set up several episodes before. Or when Erlich and Richard confront Noah about owning weasels, that was established at the beginning of the episode, rewatching it feels almost like watching some detective movie where it's fun trying to predict the outcome. Or the fact that Richard used Jack Barker's chair throughout the series, small details like that. Of course it's not the deepest story ever, and a comedy doesn't need to be that because the jokes were good, but they still added those details, some depth, some social commentary, pretty good show.

It would've been better if they'd had an ending where everyone was wrong about what the code would ultimately accomplish; the AI decrypts everything, and most people realize that as far as the common experience is concerned, everyone's roughly the same, in that they're not as noble as they portray themselves, but neither are they monsters. The corruption levels plummet as no government secret can be kept hidden, and massive waves of hearings and convictions usher in a much better governmental structure in the world. Honestly, if an AI's smart enough to do all this, then I think it's foolish to just doom and gloom things when it's just as likely that the AI can figure out what problems to fix.

I think the ending made a lot of sense in the current landscape. In the last couple of years we've been asking ourselves what powers "big tech" has and when it's too much. The era of big tech just being the cool/rich kids has evolved and we're starting to ask ourselves "why" rather than just "what" we're building. In this sense, having this notion be the final "challenge" for the Pied Piper team was very relevant. Big tech always has been romanticized (similar to how it was at the beginning of the series), but look also at how polarizing companies like Facebook or Amazon have gotten in recent years.

From a CS standpoint I don't know if it's that realistic. Yes, AI becomes more and more powerful but while AI exceds at some tasks, there is still no AI that is close to human intelligence when it comes to general problem solving. I really really miss this show, I really wish there was a season 7, 8, 9 etc. After watching this video, I'm currently watching this series again.

So Richard and crew walked away from billions upon realizing they'd effectively created 'SkyNet'. I imagine the line of SV Billionaire 'philanthropist's, who'd have taken the money - 'let the buyer beware, it's just business' - would wrap around the globe.

5:55 - In the scene, Gilfoyle says to Dinesh that he bought the house next to him because «he loves me so much». Dinesh also has a ring on his finger. This is hinting to that they are secretly in a relationship (but too proud to admit it).

Perhaps it's a green card marriage, to get Gilfoyle legal resident status. He is an illegal Canadian, remember?

There is more mystery to the character of Gwart than it is revealed. It is true, that Jared is extremely custodial and protective, and Gwart is the epitome of weakness combinining all its treats: dorky, unatractive, female, minority, lacking social skills, so that may somehow explain them having some kind of a bond, though it hardly explains how Jared was actually in love with her. You may notice that similar reaction to Gwart at one point presented Laurie, who is actually devoid of empathy to the point of being a psychopath, thus being the opposite of Jared. It seems like Gwart had some unexplainable attractive force, to which only some people in SV were vulnerable. Maybe it is like a sixth sense that some people in IT have developed - the ability to see someones technical skills through their aura.

Gavin Belson is still rehashing the other authors work that we see from the techics meeting, the author just realized he’d be more profitable if he made a deal with Gavin and let him steal from him. Still the aweful Gavin we love ❤️

It is actually supposed to be Denpak. Together they write trashy novels which makes sense because they both love for the theatrics. As Glavin says, I'm stuck with you and your stuck with me.

Idk I'm soo fcking sad from that finale, like they suffer sooo much for that fcking internet and in the end it was useless, he wanted change the world and now he's working in Gavin Belsson's school, plus he invented revolutionary thing and no one knows about it.. de fact Gavin won and he lost everything just becouse it was too good, Moral of the story: if someone offers you 10 milions take it!!

It resumes really well the sellicon valley , too many technologies was too good or too early that failed without even remember them

A very heartfelt and deep analysis of the finale. Well done! I wish the ending might leave a gateway open for a movie down the line. Anything to bring back the best show I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Funny, thoughtful/ deep, and about tech. There's nothing else I could have wished for in a show 💗💓💞

The ending really cracked me up. One of the best endings ever to a show. Just imagine, you work your ass off to build the greatest thing in the world and you have to lead it to its death yourself to save humanity. One of the most emotional endings in TV history

@marcstratmann98062 жыл бұрын
The ending was very dark , extremely unsatisfying... and at first view I hated it. But after thinking about it. It was awesome and highly ethical. Finally..somebody decided to build the equivalent of the atomic bomb or Skynet, and decided to pull the plug before launch. Don't count on this happening in real life.
@texaswunderkind2 жыл бұрын
Most companies today would launch, get their big payout, with the hopes of fixing it in version 2.0. And if they don't get around to it, oh well, they'd have assets hidden around the world to survive any regulatory scrutiny.
