I put a steel block on my Floyd. More edge and brighter with maybe a bit more sustain especially in the highs. Killer harmonics.

Floyd Rose has never manufactured steel blocks, they and zinc coated Brass from way back because Floyd didn't like how brass tarnished and pitted over time.
@truescotsman41032 ай бұрын
@@StoneToneProducts those are nickel plated brass actually. And I agree with you I don't think any production Floyd Rose ever sold with a steel block. But I was doing some research and I came across some of the early prototypes Eddie was using and other people had that Floyd Rose was providing that had steel blocks. Stratocasters use a steel block. I found an aftermarket company that makes a steel block and put one on my Floyd Rose and I love the sound of it. It seems to have more cut and it doesn't have the brassiness of a brass block. It has more bite and more Edge and it's a little more clear in the middle it's fatter. Hard to describe other than to say the brassiness is gone and the middle is filled in a little better

@@truescotsman4103 I've known Floyd Rose and the owner Andy Papiccio now for almost 12 years and they clearly have said they have never manufactured steel blocks so that may have came from a aftermarket company but the first three bridges Floyd produced in his garage before the fine tuners were introduced were given to Eddie Van Halen Neil schon and Brad Gillis.. the rest is history 🤘🏻😎
@truescotsman41032 ай бұрын
@@StoneToneProducts I know the whole story. Steel blocks were experimented with if you look you might find the same articles I read. I stated clearly that I know Floyd Rose never made ancel Bridges with steel blocks. They did make prototypes and the first ones they made had steel blocks. Maybe do some more research. They didn't like the way steel sounded so they decided on brass.

Sick creepshow tank. That distortion is wicked. Definitely notice a change... Love your content and its amazing information for gear heads who want to get a signature sound. I remember DIMEBAG was the only one playing solid state back in the 90s over tubes and he was always looking for better and better tone. He definitely found it.

I actually got the titanium block recently... Not for tone or sustain, but because all the parts on my guitar always rust so fast! Now almost all the hardware on mine is titanium, bridge is much lighter and easier to dive.
@bvanhoosen2 ай бұрын
I haven’t used too much of the titanium stuff! I can definitely appreciate having a rust free bridge though, that happens to me as well! 😅

The tonal difference is 0. This is a waste of money and at this point a scam.
@bvanhoosen2 ай бұрын
The output of the guitar definitely increased, so it wasn't 0 difference. But all of this is for fun and entertainment, and part of the fun of guitar is experimenting with different things. None of it is life or death, and you don't need to spend your money on any of it.

I feel like all of the tone improvements are negligible but different materials and weights could improve the feel of your guitar, maybe make it feel more alive or resonant. It’s not going to make any kind of massive improvement but it could make flutters and other trem tricks more extreme, a heavier block would take a longer time to return to zero right ? More weight would take the springs longer to stabilize. I like checking out this channel because he’s pretty much doing and trying everything. Nah you don’t need big blocks but if you want it and your kids aren’t starving there’s worse things to blow money on. At the end of the day whatever someone does to their guitars is their business and if they feel like it makes it better (not necessarily tone) then it’s a worthwhile mod for them. I put a brass block on my RG with an edge lo pro and honestly can’t tell much difference between it and the pot metal block, but it didn’t make the guitar worse so it’s staying in it . There’s better upgrades to do first but if you’ve done everything else and like modding why not. If someone wants and can afford one of those titanium FR who am I to tell them that’s stupid. It would be stupid for me because they cost about as much as my nicest guitar.
@bvanhoosen2 ай бұрын
Exactly! I started playing because it was fun, and now I try different pieces of gear because it’s also fun. Still less money than a sports car I guess (although that seems really fun as well).
