Bryggen, the Historic Habour Area of Bergen

An area of historic wooden warerhouse buildings dating from the 14th to 16th centuries when Bergen was the most northern post in the Hanseatic League's trading empire. Dried codfish from northern Norway were the main exports in exchange for farmed and manufactured goods imported from Germany and other more southern European countries.
