You'd be surprised. Last year there were no spectators nor marshals on the European Tour events all year and the players would always know where to look, and very rarely lost any balls. I was often surprised how good of a feel they've got as to where to look and I couldn't even find the ball, standing 15 metres from where it had landed.

Bryson lost a ball at the one of the majors last year... he was pretty frustrated. Because the ball had not been lost if there had been spectaters. But IIRC he was the only one to loose a ball that week, so not many lost balls at all!

I feel like Dechambeau could be unstoppable if only he worked on his short game. This match was the difference in short game alone. Even with Fleetwood putting two in a row into the water, he has the match in the bag early in it seemed. Fleetwood is twice the short gamer that Dechambeau is in this match. I feel like Dechambeau is more concerned with breaking his long carry records, his club head speed records and all that. Someone should tell him that Fleetwoods drives here were as effective if not more so and that if only he really did have his short game honed, he could be one of the greatest.

@@Thatonechingadera45 On the score card it is NOT one stroke. It is 2. Hit a drive out of bounds and you Must hit again from the tee box and you’re hitting 3. I realize many amateur cheaters walk up to where it went out of bounds and throw out a ball and claim they are hitting 3. They are not.
@Thatonechingadera453 жыл бұрын
@@mrsmartypants_1 if you hit the ball in bounds which you should be doing it’s 1, which no matter if it’s a putt or a drive any forward movement of the ball counts as a stroke, just as I said you can AT ANY POINT hit the ball OB or into hazards with any shot, every shot you line up to, will be counted as one stroke unless you screw up. Stop with the stupid ass argument of “OB?!?!??”
@Thatonechingadera453 жыл бұрын
@@mrsmartypants_1 the argument OP is making is that no matter how far you hit your drive it’s still “1” on the scorecard, no where in there did OB come into discussion, but since you bring it up, I’ve made the point clear that you can very well hit a put OB, so you still have the same exact variance of stroke lining up to a putt or drive. So again, a drive and a putt will look the exact same on the scorecard.

Bryson stunk in this mismatch. Fleetwood was not at his best, but Bryson was at his worst. He couldn't hit a wedge or make a putt. That said, he's improved a lot for 2024. He's finding more fairways with his driver, hitting much more accurate wedges, and judging greens far better. It's a bit of a joke, but it wouldn't bring a laugh if it weren't true: Bryson was more accurate with his driver against Fleetwood than he was with his wedges or his putter. He just smelled like he played.
