After hundreds of golf videos...this video is the single best golf video I've ever run across. It is explained in a way that a mechanically inclined minds will understand. It has completely changed the way I was looking at hitting. The first thing is that I was trying to get the highest speed at impact, which I was, but it was without torque, resulting in weird readings on simulators. High club speed, poor distance, because I had no torque on impact. Many other lessons were equally learned. Amazing video.

@@Dstgolf Has changed my game, at age 51, from being a duffer who ocasionally hit great shots to making great contact every time. Aim and distance still aren't always the best, but I just played nine holes and hit eight great drives on a CPGA-tournament course with fairways the width of a driveway. Irons, too. Really shows you how good the pros are that their control is so good. Thank you so much!

This is the best golfing video I’ve ever watched. As an engineer, the rotational forces involved made clear sense to me and I instantly grasped the importance of the lead Arm/shaft angle/hands to club face angles and rotating forces and torques as a single equation at impact as never before. I’m lucky to have a range set up with a launch monitor in my garden and went out and hit 60 balls with as much increasing impact lag angle as possible, way beyond normal. I then turned on the monitor and couldn’t believe I was adding 10 yards carry. That’s an amazing result for just 15 minute practise. Fantastic explanation and lesson. Thank you so much. Regards Steve

I'm a teaching professional in Utah and have been teaching this to ALL of my students for quite some time. This is the most informative video on the subject I have ever seen. Very detailed and yet easy to understand. During the first lesson with any of my students, I have them place the club over their trail shoulder and pretend it's a baseball bat. Then I ask them to hit an imaginary pitch to center field. Without exception, they will lead with the lower body and create lag and quiet hands through what would be the area they would be striking a golf ball. The release is always long after the point they release their normal golf swing. I will be having all of my students watch this video so they truly understand the reason we train for a proper impact position above all else. Thanks DST Golf for putting this together.

A couple things I noticed when I started hitting the ball cleaner after watching your video: - I'm applying this to everything in my bag and it has increased my confidence over the ball - Shaft in line with my lead arm at address helped my take away tremendously - My clubs are old, so it seems as though equipment isn't really a factor to good ball striking. I think most of us know this, but don't want to admit it. This is wordy, but one last thing. The delivery in your videos is excellent. Information is concise yet easy to understand. I coach baseball but I'm also an avid golfer. It is amazing to me how many similarities there are between the golf swing and batting. Casting is a major issue for lower-level hitters for the same reasons. They try to use their wrists, hands and arms to generate power early in the swing to hit hard instead of maintaining lag, exerting force and unhinging the wrists at the moment of impact. This results in casting and dragging the bat through the hitting zone. Thanks for the detailed explanations.
@Dstgolf2 жыл бұрын

Brilliant video and the DST technology has helped me no end. I started with the bent wedge which ensures your hands are ahead of the ball at impact and progressed onto having the DST Impact lines lazered onto my Mizuno's 2 years ago. My handicap is down to 9.6 from 22 in this time. I have always been self taught so had no lessons, the DST impact lines just remind me to get my hands in the right place at impact and thus my ball striking has improved hugely. I personally believe that this one factor has had a massive impact on my golf game.

Fantastic video! Whenever my ball striking goes off I practice my impact position which i learned from other dst videos, something I've only heard Faldo talk about too. Instant recipe for crisp iron shots. Thank you so much for sharing your findings. Too many golfers sweat over their baskswing instead of leaning what impact should feel like. 👍👍👍

Wow, this was a great deep dive explanation into the physics and rotational kinematics of a golf swing. Thank you for going into such depth on all of the components of the lever arm and their importance, I know have a greater understanding of what is happening with my swing, why it's wrong, and how to fix it, theoretically lol. It occurred to me about half way in that the golf swing is actually more like an inverted trebuchet than a straight arc as I had imagined. Thank you again for taking the time to explain this in such depth!!

One of the best and crisp explanations of impact position and why. I am an early extender and relate to the not so good side of this video. Challenge has been how to break out of it. Knowing the concepts definitely helps. Just need to get the mind to control the body (and not arms). With Gratitude.

I spent the weekend studying these concepts after a bad round and knowing impact position was my problem. I went to the range yesterday and applied these concepts to my swing and it works. I’m excited to keep working on it this week and getting dialed in. Presetting at address was a big key for me similar to Rory’s setup. Also the Nicklaus quote about presetting at address just made so much sense to me, it eliminates so many things that cause flipping and a poor swing plane. Thank you.
@stompingpeak20432 жыл бұрын
Get some practice balls like the whiffe or foam ones and practice with them. Go slow to get the feel of the key points and slowly work up to full speed. Then go out to the range. It's much cheaper to do this. Especially since the practice balls will really spin and show you where/how you hit the ball.
@tinman651411 ай бұрын
Absolutely. When this lightbulb went off for me, setting my hands uncomfortably forward was the key until I grew comfortable with it. It changed my ball striking for good.

Since I've started to practice with the DST my shot making has definitely improved. its helped me to learn a much better setup position, posture and stance width especially. The rub of the proverbial green is basically my peers are being negative about practicing with it. For whatever reason. I haven't unfortunately been able to play a couple of times a week to take better advantage of it. I know how much this has helped regardless of opinions. All I can say is, give it an honest attempt!

It may be that the challenge is too overwhelming because the pros are so good at it and if tried it would make them feel inferior or not as good a ball striker as they might think they are. Sad.

I actually tried to hold the lag in my swing for the first time yesterday and felt like I stumbled upon what felt like a tour swing. Little did I know that latter that day I would watch this video which fully explains how I hit my 9 iron (normally 140 yards) 150 yards carry distance. The focus on holding lag with torso rotation/creating the optimal impact/handle position also works best with the clock system for knowing partial wedge distances when I experimented it. The only shots that pros explain having the shaft vertical at impact are flops/high spinning shots. Wonderful video and a must share with my golf buddies.

I've watched a few of your videos and tried to feel the impact position on the range in about 4 sessions using the split hand drill and more pressure to the left in the downswing. It seems to work! I played the first 9 holes of the year after and didn't hit a single pull. This is coming from somebody who routinely hits 30 yard yanks left especially with the shorter irons. I just wanted to say thank you!!

Do you have any drills we can practice? I hit the ball the best when have lag and swing more down the target line than in to out. It seems my poor contact shots can all be traced to early loss of lag or extremely fast club face closure. I know what a good feeling swing is when I make one. I just cannot seem to diagnose myself when I make a bad one. Thanks for the video. Really reminds me of what to focus on..... IMPACT!!

Excellent video! Another important aspect of forward shaft lean at impact is the flattened travel path of the club face just before and thru the impact area. At the impact point, the handle is past the bottom of its swing arch and therefore going up, at the same moment, the clubhead is still going down near the bottom of its arch into the ball. The two motions counter each other--the effect gives you a flat(er) path of the club face thru the ball, which allows a greater margin of error--you are less likely to hit it fat or thin. This again reduces reliance on timing.
