I was young when I bought my first Electraglide. It was a used Electraglide Standard and I spent a ton personalizing the bike, stage 1 with Cobra exhaust, Badlander seat, blacked out forks, 3" blacked out windscreen, diamond plate themed Harley grips and floorboards, inner faring mounted mirrors, detachable passanger backrest/luggage rack... When I was done with it, it looked like the Street Glide before they made the Street Glide. That bike got a lot of attention. It was a great bike until I hit a deer with it. Thank God for watching over me, I picked the bike up and rode it home without a scratch on me. The swing arm was bent, so I bought a new bike. I customized my second Electra Glide Ultra with blacked out everything, bought the detachable tour pak kit, had a custom embroiderd Badlander seat made. Beautiful bike, but I had to sell it when I lost my job. I'm on my third Electra Glide now. I bought a used Ultra Limited. Now that I'm too old to look cool, I'm not customizing this one, I'm just enjoying the hell out of riding it I wanted a Road Glide way back when they were the Tour Glide and everyone thought they were ugly. Now everyone appreciates how cool they look and the used marked is over priced (in my opinion). I've had several metric bikes and Harleys over my 50 years of riding and I love them all, but the Electra Glide is one of the most nimble tourning bikes I've ridden. Harley has been making it for years and they have the geometry nailed! Ride safe Bry.

Man I am glad you are OK deer here are always an issue. I have to laugh as one of the thing I loved about the RG was that folks hated it before the Rushmore redesign. Now I have one and so does everyone else so clearly I should have gotten one sooner.

I wouldn’t even think about buying a new one… but even buying a used one from a dealer is a stretch. I bought a “Like new” Ultra Classic from an individual for half the price of a new one… and it already had several upgrades! The dealers really turn me off w their $32,000 price tag but then it’s up around $37,000 out the door! Nah, I’ll pass! All that said, I do love my Ultra Classic!

The Ultra Limited is a beautiful bike. You can’t go wrong with that machine provided you maintain it. I own an older Electra Glide Standard which is hardly standard anymore. She also is Stage 1 and 2. I also own a Honda GoldWing GL1800. When folks ask me what I like about both, I have to say that I liken my Harley to an old 60’s and 70’s muscle car that just sinks in low, growls and turns heads. I liken the Wing to a sexy Ferrari that’s sleek, fast and nimble. Maybe I will do a comparison video now that I’m thinking about it. Edit: on a side point, I have owned many bikes, including six Harley’s, only one was bought new. There is no need to spend a fortune on a motorcycle when used ones can be bought for pennies on the dollar. I bought my GoldWing last year for a third of the cost of a new ($30k+)one and it hardly had any miles on it for a Wing and was totally babied. To me, she was a steal. Audio sounds great! Good topic, good video. ✊🏼

I agree with your assessment. They are simply glorious touring motorcycles. I have a 2013 Ultra Limited I purchased for $19,000 in 2015 with only 2,000 miles on it. It now has over 106,000 miles. It looks and rides even better than when I bought it. For some reason, the engines sort of "settle in" with time and just get smoother with more miles. I do have to disagree a bit with the air shocks assessment. I've noticed that many people complain about the air shocks, but few of those people actually adjust them properly. The manual gives good directions on how to adjust them. Most people don't realize that for them to work properly, you NEED TO adjust them whenever your total load changes significantly. This includes going from 1 up to 2 up riding. It's very quick and easy to do. You can go from a sporty, high-tension. very responsive ride to plush Cadillac-style comfort by changing the air pressure on the rear shocks. I have my original seat and original air shocks. which remain very comfortable. I had to replace some of the covering on the seat since I ride in all weather and eventually developed a hole in the covering. The actual foam and seat and original. And it's so reliable that I've taken it on 5,000 miles trips several times with no issues. As for the comfort, I've done 900+ mile trips in a single day when I simply had to get somewhere in one day. Despite that, I have never tried to enter the official "iron butt" certification because I don't think it's even fair to call it an "Iron Butt" on an Ultra-Limited. You can have a "Marshmallow Butt" and still do that in extreme comfort on an Ultra Limited. In fact, what I really wanted to do after my last 900+ one day trip was to keep on riding! I was disappointed that I'd reach my destination and had to stop. You just don't get tired on this bike. I even eat and drink on the bike while I'm riding. I only stop to refill the tank after every 200-240 miles. When I carry a passenger (who is almost always my daughter), she always falls asleep on the back seat after the first 200 miles. (She's 17 years old. I did not carry her for long distances on the bike when she was much younger.) It's just that comfortable. And it's also rock solid in high winds and in pouring rain. I've even ridden it safely through snow on the road, as long as there was no ice on the ground. Regarding the GPS, my back is the last year without a GPS included in the bike. (It's also the last year the CB radio was standard, which I love and use on long trips.) To get around the GPS issue, Garmin used to make a Harley-specific GPS. I have one on my bike, attached high on the dash. It's a phenomenal GPS unit, and it's as indestructible as the bike. I keep it mounted at all times, even through heavy rain and snow, and it never fails. I'm very disappointed that Garmin no longer makes or supports the device, so updates are no longer available. It's extremely useful, with dealerships already dialed in with one-button navigation to the nearest dealership. You play music through it, and even attach pictures of locations to your stops. And it saves your routes indefinitely. I'm pretty sure it's better than the new ones included on the bike. I also mount my iPhone on the handlebars with the Quadlock Pro. Your phone will be FINE as long as you have the vibration dampener. Your phone will NOT be fine if you DON'T have the dampener. I lost an iPhone camera before I switched to the Pro with the dampener. Since then I've had no problems. I have the same Quadlock Pro with vibration dampener setup on my Pan America ADV bike, which I frequently take off road. That's includes a LOT of bumping and fall overs. I've never lost or even damaged my iPhone on the Pan America even after multiple off-road falls. So enjoy this great bike. There is no other touring bike I would buy. I previously owned a Kawasaki Voyager 12, which remains the best bang for your buck economy full dress touring bike in my opinion. It just doesn't have the full performance, cosmetic fit and finish, and absolute gorgeous look of the Harleys. The Indians are the nearest similar competitor. The Indians are great bikes, but they cost even more than the Harleys. They are also significantly physically larger than the Harley's and I'm only average size. My real disappointment with the modern Indians is they chose to abandon their iconic art deco style to copy the Harley style. I think that was a mistake, as they used to look uniquely beautiful. That's why people bought them. I personally would not pay more for a bike that looks like a Harley when I can get the real deal with a much more extensive dealer network and support. The Honda Golding is also a brilliant touring motorcycle, but it clearly does not have the character of the Harley. That's a matter of riding preference and style, not capability or durability. The Goldwing ride is also so devoid of tactical feedback that it badly triggers my central vertigo, so, I can't ride one even if I wanted to, and I have tried. Ride on and enjoy your Ultra Limited. I hope to see you on the road.

Great video on your 2014 Ultra Ltd! I have a 2011 Ultra Ltd in Cool Blue I bought new from my local dealer. I traded a beautiful Deluxe in for what I paid for it a year earlier…and it was used! On my 2011 Ultra Ltd I had them change the forks for chrome, added chrome rear running board covers, added the adjustable driver back rest, changed the foot controls, front fender flare, changed the lower faring storage flaps for magnetic ones, changed to an LRS 10” windshield with recurve, Boom Audio system, had the inner faring painted Cool Blue to match the bike, and I changed the front lights for LED’s. It’s just the way I like it. I’d say the 2 biggest ascetic dress-ups I did and like the most would be the chrome front forks and painted inner faring. It has over 42K miles at 12 years old…still looks new!!!

I own a Ultra, its my keeper bike Im in my 60's been riding since I was 16, Ive owned Duke's 900 ss, Suzuki TLR super bikes, Kawasaki Z100R's and a bunch of dirt bikes and commuters, you name it iv'e possibility ridden it. I see many moving over to the Road Glide, my thoughts on them, their a real nice modern looking sled, the shark nose fairing is ok but I prefer the layout of the batwing for my long hauls across country. Iv'e been around a long time and come from a marketing back ground and kinda feel the RG is in a fashion cycle, I get that to attract more younger demographics. Iv'e heard all the spin on how much better they are in the wind etc, but id say the truth would be 5-10% less buffering on a storm day, I don't feel semi's that much for me to make the move over. At the end of the day a well sorted bike that gives you buzz is what its all about. Long live HD.

Good info. There is no good reason to buy a NEW bike. Buy used with under 10k miles and pay HALF. My personal opinion is that buying recreational items and financing them is just bad economics. Your budget should never be more than what you can afford to pay cash for unless it is something required for dally survival. I bought a 7k miles 15 Ultra Limited for 14k a few months ago. Great platform. Took out a 10k loan from credit union and paying off within six months just to keep credit scores high. Credit scores impact MUCH MORE than your ability to get loans these days. By the way, HD has taken this item out of their catalog and if a dealer doesn't already have, they can't get it. I did get one for $600 before I even had the bike. Picked it up yesterday and rode it around for a couple hours. While admiring my bike and thinking about the ride, I starting rethinking the tour pak conversion. Really not sure at this point. I've had both _RGU and the LIMITED. The RGU is a great bike ( a bit nose heavy compare to the Limited ). It's a bit of a reach to the dash on a RGU. A fix for the LIMITED's storage issue is a windshield storage pouch. Bluetooth you phone to the bike leaves no need for a storage. Just came across your video. Noticed from the video you actually live (or were riding near my area) recognized it all. 😊 I have a 2021 CVO ultra limited. So many things I like about it, and somethings I don’t. I had a road glide and traded for this, and there are some things I like about how the road glide feels and handles better than the CVO (my opinion) but I like the quality of items on the CVO where I think if you got them on stock with the street glide or the road glide they seem a little cheaper quality (my opinion). But thanks for the video. Do you ride in this cold weather often? I do once in a while.

I have a ‘22 Ultra Limited and love it although I wanted a road glide limited. I do hate the tiny glove box that can’t hold my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Only upgrade I have done so far is 12” KST Customs handlebars because at 6’4” tall, the stock bars sucked. Next upgrades will be seat and lighting.

Nice. What seat and lighting are you looking at?
@Jedi_CVO-RG2 жыл бұрын
@@BryTheBiker first will be the custom dynamics tail light to replace the stock incandescent one then will add extra lights to the vent, lower fairings, and saddlebags. As far as the seat, I’m open to suggestions. The stock seat isn’t bad but after a few hours of riding it hurts because I’m a bigger guy but I don’t have much of an a$$. I was looking at the Harley TallBoy but need to find a demo seat at a dealership to try it out.

I should have done the Legends the first year I had my 2012 FLHTK. This year I did a Wood/Andrew’s TW222 Cam with V&H Dresser Duals(No Cats)Twin Slash Rounds(Old skool sound), FP3. My 12 I bought out the door for 21k brand new. Now to me the TC103 runs almost as good as the M8, it runs COOL, and it’s really fun again. I saved a crap load of cash not buying a new one, to have to spend on top of purchase price to make it like it should come out of the factory. Try the Wood TW222 Night Prowler Cam. It’s a bottom end cam that sits in the power and around 3k rpm., right in your cruising. zone.

Just passing by the channel, but I noticed you said you're riding on Legend suspension. I'm on my 3rd Harley, a '20 Road Glide Special that came with Legend front and back. Light-years better than the '14 Street Glide and '17 Road King. I wouldn't want anything else. Now the dealership is trying to get me to trade for a '23 Ultra Limited. I just got this Road Glide last June, so I kinda made my bed for a bit. The only thing I can't stand about the Road Glide is even with a extended windshield from Klock Werks, I still get the wind beating the sh*t out of me over 60 mph because I'm 6' - 2" and can't hear the radio. I miss the bathwing.

I heard you say mustang seat but never mentioned that as being something you added. Is that something you have done and which one did you get? I have a mustang seat on my Honda VTX and it is awesome! They are expensive, but I think they are worth it. I’m not a very tall person and I was wondering if their low seat is any good for the ultra classic. Also, how tall is your short windshield and do you get much buffering with it? if I wear a helmet, it’s a half helmet, and even when I lower my full windshield a bit, the wind cuts me right on my forehead, which is super annoying, I just prefer the look of a shorter windshield. The curved ones are supposed to redirect the wind, but I have not heard if they actually do that.

That is very true, especially on the 2011-2017 models. It happened to me on the way to Daytona last year. 1300 bucks to fix it. I have a 2014 Electra Glide, 16k miles. Then, my buddy got to Daytona on his 2016 Street Glide…same thing. He paid 1600 in Daytona because it was bike week. And while he was in the shop, a trike came in with the same issue. Water pump. The mechanic said they had replaced hundreds of them but the new water pumps are a different design and they are very reliable. It’s not a matter of if, but when, with these water pumps. Ride safe.

I went from a honda shadow 750 to an ultra classic 88 cubic inch. The gearing is way different. The revs are way different. Harley is more powerful but is for crusing. Handa shodow rips. Even though is not as powerful the way its geared makes it pull hard whith the engine screaming. Different bikes do different things. 1 bike to rip around town on and big bike for cruising.
