What do you mean this story didn't happen? It's totally plausible that a brand new, but also modded, copy of Super Mario 64 to have Mario booted out of a level through the painting, after getting a star, that has Luigi on it instead of the Lethal Lava Land picture as Mario gets put into water that has turned red like blood with Luigi, who has parts of his skeleton showing, standing there and then the game boots author back to the Mario face. You know what... Run-on sentence aside, I'm glad I'm in universe A because living in the universe where this happens isn't an option without giving up on life.

what really gets me is the luigi painting allegedly being in 1080p. vga cables, the kind used by the n64, can have 1080p res if the cables are good enough, apparently. however, i highly doubt the author got special vga cables for their "dusty" n64, let alone an hdmi adapter. this is also all done with an n64 cartridge in a regular ass n64 console. really puts the "bullshit" in "bullshit creepypasta storytime" honestly

Creepypasta authors have all the subtlety of a brick to the head. Every time they sidestep a cliché or trope like the Sharpie-on-the-cartidge thing, they just cannot help but call it out to make sure the reader appreciates how subversive and unique their story is. At this point, I'm pretty sure I've seen more examples of this than I've seen examples of the cliché they're referring to.
