Ha, only took me about 18 months, but at least I now know what to look out for. Looking forward to now getting some miles on her with confidence 🙂

hi Chris I would'nt use any grit paper on the commutator as it will prematurely wear the commutator and the brushes a way, the best way to clean the Armature is with Methylated spirit and some cotton buds. kind regards Adrian.

Hi Adrian. Thanks for the advice as usual. I didn't think of that to be fair, but you're right; any abrasion will create wear! Next time it needs doing I'll try meths on a cloth and see if it's enough to clear it. If not then maybe I could just give it one or two spins with the paper and not go OTT with it like i did this time 🤔.

@@CharltonsClassics yeah i know what you're saying, I have a couple of old bikes myself. Hang around those old blokes as much as you can, they know the tricks.

You might want to get your mixture checked as I suspect it might be running a little lean. Also, do you use the advance/retard control for starting? Lever back (retard) for starting, then after a few minutes move the lever forward to advance. Also be very careful what products you use anywhere around the electrics. Do not use anything with silicon in around any contacts, electrical cables or controls, switches. Nice bike. 👍

yeah you are better off being slightly rich than lean.

Hi mate, thanks for the feedback there! It has the electronic ignition module so there is no manual advance / retard (despite the lever being left on for originality). As for the cleaning products that's a good shout. I'll have a look at what the 'ingredients' are, and i guess an air compressor would be a good fallback too. Cheers again 👍

Have you got used to the hi/low reversal? You could always swap the wires at the bar switch.

@@bananabrooks3836to be honest I haven’t used it at night since I fitted the LEDs but that’s a great idea actually. Might add that to the winter job list 😊
