Always nice to see another BSA unit twin saved from a low oil pressure death. If you ever find yourself here in the states, please feel free to stop by and do a quick rebuild on my A50 😆

I didn't know this back bushing, which is quite complicated for loose adjustment with a hot engine. If Morgo were to manufacture a replaceable bomb for A65, the good thing would be a new bomb. Soon we will hear the mighty roar of that brave engine resonating completely restored.

Thank you for this video. I'm have a similar situation with a7 long stroke with new bearing and thrust washer and only getting a marginal end float reading. Has sent me into a bit of a panic asking all kinds of questions to myself- How many bolts should I have put in the case? Did I overtighten the case bolts? No idea what the torque is meant to be. So based on what you've experienced I don't think I'll need to shim.

What compression ratio do you find suits these A65 engines? Thanks.
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
I have ridden pretty much the entire spectrum, from Thunderbolt with fairly low compression, to the fire breathing Spitfire Hornet with 10:1 and all can be seen in my ride clips. All very different, but none were unpleasant. The more 'sporty' engines probably won't last as long between rebuilds, if enjoyed to the max, though!

My guess is, that after a few break in runs, and a warm engine, that end float is going to be just right.

Put the new one in but face it off with wet and dry on a sheet of glass should be spot on
@paulhenshaw45143 жыл бұрын
To be fair, this new thrust washer was perfectly flat and appeared to be fully machined, unlike some I have seen which must be stamped out from a sheet and tend to be slightly dished as a result.

If I were a wagering person, which I'm not, I'd bet that this engine had been overhauled, on one or two occasions, BUT the schmuck(s) who did so, lazily/forgetfully failed to check the oil pump condition....or simply install a new one.
