Hi, great videos mate. So am I correct in thinking that you put the 2 halves of the crankcase together and then fit the dowels? Then fit the bolts. Do the bolts have lock washers and what torque loading do you used please?

Hi, Yes you put the crank cases together, then dowels, then bolt/screws. As for torque I do it by feel as most engines I get for rebuild have threads that are a bit worn. I think the recommended screw torque for steel into aluminum is a bit high for these well worn threads. I've been unable to source the smaller outside diameter spring washers and have put many engines together without them as I find the sealant used on the cases generally migrates into the threaded holes which prevents them coming undone. I've never had a customer engine back for any issue and none of my own Bantam engines have the spring washers. Be careful with torque on the screws if you are using socket head cap screws, as you are able to apply more torque than a normal straight slotted screw......Hope this helps regards Bones.

Are you sure it is a d3 engine? What is the engine serial number?
