Hello Vin fella, I has the lightning se springer but wasn’t impressed with it one bit, it just felt a clump of a rifle, and accuracy wasn’t good at all. But that’s what I thought any way, needless to say I sold it and it put me off from buying another bsa springer again, it’s Weihrauch’s all the way for me, except for my pro sport that is. Air guns have been proven lethal and it happened to my nephews friend back in 2002, a lad called Mathew Sheffield from Stockton on Tees who was shot in the head, he was fourteen years old, details can be found online and maybe more should actually read articles like this and understand that airguns can kill and not to take the attitude that’s it’s only an airgun, possibly more thought and understanding would be taken into consideration that they can be a deadly weapon. Possibly pin this for some to see? Great video Vin, have a good weekend my friend.

@@PiperX1X Hi Johnathan thanks for comment my friend. There's no doubt whatsoever airguns can be lethal and should be treated with respect. #no1 rule NEVER point a gun of any description at another person. #no2 rule treat all guns as loaded. ... It really annoys me when here in the UK I hear of people suggesting they can be used as home defence weapons. Quite frankly those who advocate as such really need to have their heads tested. 👍👍👍👍

All of the good qualities I mentioned above and the gritty, long trigger. Like I said, I liked it very much, but I couldn't get passed the trigger, ended up selling it. ScottUSA

Hi Vin, Yes, I completely agree with your opinion on air rifles as weapons and your other opinions, too. Pardon the pun, but as air rifle users and enthusiasts, we have to be bulletproof on how we act and conduct ourselves if we are to continue what we love doing. We have to constantly think about what we are doing and be correct in what we do and be able to explain ourselves if need be, anytime. To me, personally, my air rifle is an item of beauty. It's something I've adored being around owning and using for a long time. My air rifle represents quality, precision, excellence, beauty, craftsmanship, superb engineering, etc. It isn't a threat or danger to anybody. In the wrong hands, it could be a weapon, but it isn't in the wrong hands and won't be. It has potential, of course, though only positive potential in my care. Unfortunately, for air rifle users, our laws with such items have to cover all bases. Yes, sometimes, I think I'd do better with more than 12ftlb. However, if I implemented more fieldcraft skills, maybe 12ftlb would be good. 12ftlb in the wrong hands is very dangerous. It's all well and good having FAC, but not considering what is behind what you're shooting at is easy to do, with lethal consequences. There are times in the summer, when I've been shooting I'd like to call at the supermarket, enroute coming home. That's a no-no. Having my kit in the car, even locked up, and wearing camo gear, I've learned is to be avoided. What people don't know won't do you any harm and won't lead to confrontation. So many people love confrontation these days. A good portion live on it. Those that, for whatever reason, have no intention of working have nothing to lose, so can't be hurt. They have nothing to lose. We do. I've found the best way is to be discreet. Many of the people who have opinions on what we do don't know the first thing about what we do. They should keep out of what we do. They won't be complaining come 1500 hours, on a Saturday afternoon when they're shouting and screaming, acting like caged animals, warranting a huge Police presence at massive public expense. Riot vans, Police dogs, horses, troops, etc, etc. No. That's just all fine and accepted as modern everyday life. We must really think about what we do and how we conduct ourselves going forward. We have to have rules and boundaries for people whose intentions aren't ours. There'll always be spoil sports, but as long as we are correct in what we are doing, that's what matters and what will allow us to go forward. Sorry to rabble, Ian.

Totally agree with you Vince. I'm very curious about the Lightning. To be honest, i don't expect to much but i hope this one shoot as well as it looks. The last BSA break barrel i've shot was not cheap and had a 100% Gamo made action with the BSA logo stampt in a great looking wooden stock. The rifle was hardly used, had the plastic Gamo breech and i could move the barrel in closed position from left to right and there was nothing to adjust. No bolt, just a pin with two C-clips. These guns are meant for pellets that's why there called pellet guns but everybody is wanting to shoot slugs these days and shooting them at such high FPS and eventually someone is gonna use one of these high powers airguns and kill someone and then you watch and see they will make airguns the same way as it is to have a firearm with all the paper work.

Hi Vin, looking forward to see what you can do down the range with this modern build Lightning. Most of the time its slated all over the forums and should only be used as gate post prop. I have an "EU" built .177 SE spring version with the short silencer and personally really like it for its point ability. The trigger is a Gamo SRT/CRT type trigger. I improved mine by polishing the sears and added longer 8mm adjustment screw that i rounded and polished its contact point. If adding longer screw then make sure you drop test gun after making adjustments to trigger, can become hair trigger. I brought mine at really good price secondhand, the scope was worth more than gun. Build wise I've had to replace the piston seal as that turned into mangled blob of hard blue misformed plastic and the gun had only fired less than a tin of pellets, was only showing 5.5 ft/lbs. After rebuild now around 11.4 ft/lbs. Interested what you think about the firing cycle? they are a bit jumpy. It has it vices but I will always keep mine for its fun challenge factor. Oh and they love shaking the front stock screws loose too.
