Stop! Before you do this call a Jeep dealership (service and parts department). Have them run the VIN to find out what gear oil you need. Plus dont trust the owners manual. There are 3 different types of front and rear diffs for my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. The owners manual listed 75W-140 (API-GL5) front and rear BUT because I upgraded to the tow package and have a rear diff without Electronic Limited-Slip (ELSD) I actually need 75W-85 (API-GL5). Other than that the video was awesome and made changing the fluid a breeze.

Awesome video and the links. Subscribed. Thanks. I especially thank you for all tools and parts links. Appreciated. I will try to change it without lifting my car.

I just called a jeep dealer today and they said 700$ each 1400 for both front and rear differential fluid change that crazy I did it myself in only 30 minutes and 50.00 bucks for the fluid and modifier

Excellent video, the same liquid is put in the back

Thanks for the video. Would a "flush" ever be advised say if I've neglected to change the diff fluid in over 100K miles? Or am I safe to just drain and replace?

Wondering the same thing.

This type of system doesn’t need to be “flushed” there aren’t tubes. There aren’t low points somewhere in the system elsewhere. This drain and fill is a flush. I’d you want to not let the debris damage your gears after a change. I would drive it 250 miles and just change again. Expensive but the purest good oil you can get in there

How hard its to change the seal axle from the front diferncial? Cause mine is leaking from the left axle!do you have any video doing that?
@faradayinacage2 жыл бұрын
I changed my front diff fluid a month ago and this week noticed leaking from the top of the differential case. Is it possible I may have overfilled and caused this to happen? I'm pretty sure I let it level off before closing up the fill hole but who knows. Grand Cherokee 2015 with 70K miles. Both fill and plug holes are clean.

Is there crush washers and thread sealant on the fill and drain plugs?

Brian, I dont know if I missed it. But did you use any friction modifier? I have a Haynes manual that calls for adding 4 oz. Of Mopar Limited slip additive with the SAE 75W-85. Does the Mopar gear lubricant have the additive in it? Thanks!
@kevinalcantara9384 жыл бұрын
Should say on the bottle, I used the Mobil 1 75w-85, says it has additive. 2 years later no issues so it seems to have worked.

Hi, I have an engine light on in my 2013 grand Cherokee. The reader gives a p010 code saying the VVT open bank one, could you please tell me where to find that sensor as I’d like to replace it myself. Thx in advance. Keep up the awesome vids!

Is this the same fluid for the front diff for the 5.7?
@EscobarMT2 жыл бұрын
Did you find out if its the same fluid for 5.7l?
@anthonysullo70412 жыл бұрын
The dealership will tell you that each diff holds 1 quart and doing both you only need 2 but this is incorrect. Need 2.5 so make sure you get three.
Will that same fluid work for a 2011 Jeep GC? I just bought the car and I believe it has the Chrysler trans in there if that makes any difference.
@CharlesCo9182 жыл бұрын
That is for the diff that I believe is in the V8?
@samkozora4002 жыл бұрын
I see your using 75-85 in a 3.6L My manual says 75-140, shows 75-85 for the 5.7L. Should I be concerned about the different grade what is your recommendation please?
@skou12982 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same question and the price of Mopar 75-140 is significantly less than Mopar 75-85.

Hey Guys thanks for the add. My mom has a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Hemi V8. There is a insane bottoming out when hitting any bump or surface elevation change feels like something is going to come through the hood, it can happen from a small bump to a large pothole. The air suspension was taken out years ago. I just did the Upper control arms, Lower control arms. all new ball joints and tie rod ends. didn't fix the issue whatsoever. I currently have a rough country suspension in there { the website said it was for the v6 but it seemed to have fit fine. the clunk was happening before rough country install and has continued afer. I'm at a total loss for what could be causing this issue.... do i need to spend 4k on putting the air suspension back in? has anyone had issues with the front differential bushings? PLEASE any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Many thanks!!!

Man....thank you so much, for these videos, I can not tell you, how much money I have wasted and countless arguments with mechanics not knowing its a rear or front differ oil to change. And pleading with them to change it, since I believe it's never been changed since I had the vehicle. I'm going to be Changing this oil myself, never done major projects on my jeep. But this upcoming week, definitely bout to be doing this myself. Causenim just SICK and TIRED OF THESE SHADY A#$ MECHANICS. That claim to do the job, but take your money, cause your female. And they figure you don't know anything at all about vehicles. Yeah well I guess I had no choice but to learn, now cause I have no other choice either sell my paid off jeep, cause of the problems, or fix them myself at this point. Hell I feel I can do a better job by watching these videos, cause this is an 2011 and I have a 2012 jeep. Plus no more mobile Mechanics for me. Mfer disconnected a line, and didn't hook it back up. Found out what ut went to...which links to the part that sits on top of the engine....😮💨 I refuse to give up on my jeep. I do love it. I just can't drive it. Right now, but thanks to you! That's changing this year. I'll fking do it myself!
