I just did all three driveline fluids (not trans) on my Trailhawk. Pointers on the skid plates: They are HEAVY. The bolts on one end are made to be loosened enough to let the plate slide off. So you loosen them, then remove the opposing bolts, then slide the plate off. And be prepared to handle a 25 lb plate. They're for real. I noticed the rear plate actually has a big ballast bolted to it. Not sure why.

Hi, Great vid, thanks for posting. Jeep UK said our GC was a Quada trac 2 but it had the ELSD which totally confused me. Our diff is exactly the same as the one in the vid and now I know what the clutch pack motor looks like I can double check that as well. Your vid couldn't have been more helpful. 👌👍

This is a fantastic video! Exactly what I've been looking for. So, is there no alternative to using the over priced Mopar lube? Can you provide lube you to use for the front diff. Is thread locker/sealer needed on the plugs?

I have a 2013 overland Hemi I’m about to change the diff fluid in. Does the front diff take this same specific fluid as well?

A technique to push all the old bottom oil out; put one maybe two ounces of oil in the fill plug. The cold thicker new oil goes to the bottom and the warm old oil now flows out. Works best when the old differential oil is a bit warm.

Brian: Well & Clearly Documented. After the rear axle, I took on the Front axle, & Middle Crank Case on my WK2 JGC EcoDiesel & my wife's 2008 Compass ( All 3, 1st time) in the same fashion. The 2015 JGC has clocked around 65K kms (Over 40k miles) & ironically the Compass around 85k kms (53k miles) . Thought it was time for both more due to time length of owning both vehicles over according to mileage. That includes your showhow in your other 2 videos on the JGC. Perfect & very happy with the end result. That includes after the test drive in the summer conditions here in Australia at present. No leaks or problems the morning after settling overnight. Worked a GEM 💎 💎 👍👍.

Yes, all Trailhawks of this generation (which started in the 2017 model year) use this same eLSD rear differential. Summits also come with the eLSD as standard equipment. You can also get it on other trims such as the Overland if you option it with the offroad package.

Nope the front doesn’t take the same fluid because this specific fluid has the friction modifier in it. Front diff doesn’t have clutches in it so you don’t need friction modifier.

Hey Brian... you're going to shoot me after reading this. ; ) I have a Ford F-150 2008 Pickup. I followed your advice on the timing chain issues with the Triton engines. That worked out great... much appreciate those videos. I hate to say it, but I bought this truck used when it had 188,000 miles on it. I'm not sure if the previous owner kept up on fluid changes, but since buying the truck, I haven't been the best at keeping the fluids changed. The truck now has 298,000 miles on it, and I'm leary about changing any fluids. What is your recommendation for a truck with 298.000 miles on and not keeping up on fluid changes. Since getting the truck, I did the timing chain replacement, new radiator, water pump, new high pressure oil pump replacement you recommended, and general maintenance. Do you have a video showing what recommendations you suggest for guys like me neglecting the fluids? Appreciate your input. I've passed your weblink on to many techs and friends. Great job as always on the videos...

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.6 L gasoline engine... NOT a 4x4...does it have ELSD...just trying to figure out the correct differential fluid to use 75W-85 or 75W-90 and do I need friction modifier...thank you so much....trying to change my differential and transmission fluids myself..thanks.

Probably not but you really need to get the part number off the diff to make sure.

I have a 2020 JGC Trailhawk and the fluid i ordered on Amazon is 75W-85 Synthetic but it did not say ELSD on the bottle. The owner's manual recommended 75W85 with friction modifier. Mopar sells a 4 oz bottle of Limited Slip Additive. I'm wondering if that 4 oz bottle will work with the gear oil that I purchased or if I should use the gear oil that you recommended in the description
