The coverage is improving every year, but I could watch 10 times as much. Lots of stories to be told, and always good insights from B Sport. However: Does Saudi Arabia have any landmarks? i can never tell one patch of that desert from another, not like the South American and African days when you could rely on some great scenery and changes every day.

Agree, but the problem is if it’s not done to a high enough spec and it fails, the scrutineers would be bollocked for allowing it. It’s an impossible situation really, but they take the safest option.

Roll cage repair in desert is just inviting disaster regardless how easy it to fix. What if car take another punishment, and this time roll cage can't handle it because it lost structure integrity?

@@kidpagronprimsank05 rejoining cars need to be rescrutineered anyway, and checked if the cage meets the homologated specification. That is all that is checked at pre event scrutineering anyway, they don’t try and crush each cage to make sure it works… that is what the homologation is for.

It has been a brutal dakar for sure. Tough luck for century racing. The cr7 has lots of potential. I thought it was only the coronel team who had broken springs. At this point it looks like a hilux will take the top spot though.

i though it was illegal to let car parts in the desert, but loeb and sainz reached the end of their stages without all of their bodywork. It is really an issue?

Too many big names out of contention early for my taste. 😦 Can’t really root for last year’s worst team player Al-Attiyah any more. But maybe we’ll get a surprise winner... ?

Cant wait for the teams to complain about how hard the stages were and then we start a yearly loop of stages being too hard then too easy Also the top teams sandbagging so they have an easier time to find the finish is very unsportsmanlike. The organisers have gps systems on all cars and they should dish out penalties for those that intentionally sand bag. It takes the privateers out of the competition because toyota and dacia and all the big oems want the glory. Its nasty

@MIEJ4 i just gave a solution to police it. If you are intentionally sandbagging You get time penalties equivalent to the time spent sand bagging

@ that’s no solution - how do you possibly prove someone is going slower than they might be able to? It’d be amazing the number of car issues that would suddenly appear - or would you penalise that and genuine issues as well? Or just slower drivers? It’d be absolutely impossible.
