Great choon. I'm always amazed by the amount of people who can say ...."heard this in Bagleys/Hard Times/Ronson/Ministry/Tunnel/Hacienda/Nation/Gatecrasher/Moneypenny's in 93/4/5" or whatever!. It's either complete BS to appear cool or you simply were not there 'back in the day' Me? Loved the choon but couldn't tell where the eff I was cos I was too busy enjoying the 90's the proper way - smashed. I couldn't tell you if it was New York or New Effin Year. Anyway, wish I could go back just one more time. Special days indeed. From someone that was definitely 'there'

The mid 90's seems like it was a real point of maturity for trance/house music. Synths and recording quality were getting better and better, and the producers were really pioneering how much they could do with the layering and musical development. There's a great live version of this on KZbin with BT, Vincent Covello and a full band. It doesn't have as many synthesizers and sounds more "acoustic" with real piano, drums, etc. but the base songwriting and melodies are so good it works. A truly legendary track.

the one on the White Room with the sitar backing? love that version!
@benj-cook11 ай бұрын
It's the maturity of the scene, yeah. '96-'00 was underground-peak to popular-peak. Dubstep followed similar, roughly '07 underground-peak to '10 popular-peak. We don't see the same dynamics any longer thanks to culture being a global phenomenon now.

My favourite disco floor burner. It's where I skip a generation and fall into my Mum's boogie shoes with a little psychedelic tweak. Burned into my brain is a memory of a girl in a short blue skirt on a podium giggling in sync to the staccato, synth rhythm, blowing my mind. (Around 9minutes into track. Sasha playing Leeds 1995-6ish). One of them best nights of yer life agin...

Back in the 90s, as the underground ventured away from its NY/Chicago/Detroit axis, "progressive" house was born, meeting the demands of a new generation of pilled-up idjuts who possessed no inkling of the concept of "soul" within the machines. As a genre, it was generally "pony". However, a few little ditties have stood up to the test of time. This is DEFINITELY one of them. [should actually be pitched down a bit, but I'm just getting old] #massive
