We buried our father a few week ago somewhere in Holland. He fell in love as a boy of 13, with bagpipe music because he heard them (Scottish soldiers) playing in The Hague in may 1945. So we had a man in kilt playing the bagpipe in the church and on the road to the graveyard, incredible moving! But later I remembered another thing: my father really liked the German bands who played during the occupation. "Yes, we hated them, but man, the music they played..." (and his eyes glowed...). Whould have been nice to had this band playing also at his funeral. And a sign how we have changed our relationship. No more distrust or sick jokes, but mutual respect.
