My one has just gone open circuit(2013 batch). Ive ordered new motor from Olivias who say the replacements are better and they prompted Heljan to get this new supply. Its a nice model loco fraught with design problems. Nice video

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Hi Mike My motor went to my old address hence the wait. Pig of a loco to work on but this is what happens when you use insulating tape for wiring and not soldering( i cant solder very well). Trial and error getting both body shells back on and glad I didnt use the pcb. The lights were also reinstated thanks to Digitrains of Lincoln. I videod its progress on my you tube channel. Looking forward to more of your video content. Regards

The original plan was for a B-B single cab loco I'd about 800hp. Then they wanted to fit a steam heating boiler but and IIRC a 1000hp engine, but that made it too similar to the Type 2 already under construction. Then the BTC vetoed BR(WR) plans before agreeing to what was built, even though the reasons for refusal hadn't changed - the need fir thus design didn't exist and had been shrinking since the end of WW1. The extra speed over the Class 08 was not needed in the shunting yards.
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Жыл бұрын
Worked 08s a fair bit and yes in the yard 20 was fine, but when they needed changing over a bit more speed would have been nice lol 😆

You've put a lot of effort into producing that and your fix on the Locomotive was brilliant. Have you tried the circlip on other Engines that have play in the driving wheels. Very informative with excellent filming 🎥 . 12 out of 10 😁💫

The majority of those allocated to the Hull Docks' work were only ever transferred on paper. BR(ER) never wanted them due to their history of unreliability. Add this to the falling traffic at Hull Docks and the need for 2 Class 14s wuth 2 crews to shift the heavier of the trains at the docks made them unpopular with management.

Nice video unfortunately the helgan model is like the real thing unreliable, my husband worked with the class 14s at British steel Corby Northamptonshire,
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Жыл бұрын
Oh wow! Did he enjoy that? I've honestly not had an issue, what's yours done?
@joginns778 Жыл бұрын
@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited ican remember my husband telling me about an incident with an apprentice working on a 14 if you look on your model your exhaust is next to the radiator filler, he filled the exhaust with water by mistake putting the 14 out of action, as for the model the steps break off to easy and the marker lights are wrong, red should be white and the white should be red and the motor seem to over heat and burn out, so I had to find an upgraded motor, not easy to find,
@joginns778 Жыл бұрын
@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited the 14 is a shunters nightmare, steep steps to get in the cab ounce in the cab you have another step over the jack shaft, believe me there's not alot of room,
@ModelRailwaysUnlimited Жыл бұрын
@@joginns778 woops! Oh dear sorry to hear of your troubles. The steps are delicate. I'm surprised to hear about the motor. Is everything free running? A small coreless motor might help you

@@ModelRailwaysUnlimited every thing is fine with the 14 now, mind you she's getting on a bit as she was one of the first batch, thank you for asking,, question if you own a heljan hymek and the motor players up, I swapped the heljan motor over to a bachmann one and it made it more responsive,
