BTCC 2001 - Rounds 25 & 26 Brands Hatch Indy

Coming up here is the final BTCC race covered by the BBC before its move to ITV in 2002 where it has been ever to this very day. Every year even in this tragic year BTCC finals day is the highlight of the motor racing calendar and despite being in a transitional season 2001 was no different. Both the Touring and Production championships had gone the distance in the Touring main class it was Yvan Muller vs Jason Plato for the title just few points seperating them. Meanwhile in Production it was a 3 way affair between the HTML Peugeot's of Simon Harrison and Roger Moen plus the Barwell Honda of James Kaye. Who would walk away with the titles lets find out Charlie Cox and John Watson are your guides. Also watch out for an emotional moment involving the BTCC's favourite scouser Paul O'Neill.

2001 gets criticised for being a rubbish year, but the racing was actually really good. At end of year, MG and Peugeot weren;t too far off the pace either

The racing was at an extremely high level, because the majority of the cars were brilliant (except the Peugeots) and because there were so little cars, it was only the most dedicated and best drivers left really. A grid with Plato, Muller, Thompson, Neal, Reid, Soper and Eaves? Yes please!

Shame Roland Dane was a total bellend about Plato taking the title... effectively sacked him right after this... because he wanted Muller to win
