There should've been a catch fence there, good to see spectators instantly came over to the cameraman's aid.

Mate its nothing to joke about, yes i understand the joke gran turismo lobbies are the exact same i race for a team in one every week, but this cameraman had the impact been 20mph quicker both the driver & cameraman would have been at risk of death

Crazy...the chance such an accident happens on that spot is still not that big I think, especially how the cars crashed exactly (yellow car crashes in the wall, bounces back to the black car and all that kinetic energy bounces back to the light green car, flipping it over like it was a coin and last but not least, the red car that hits him, pivoting his car when on top of the fence which accelerates the force of the back of his car against the camera position even more). It could be worse, if there was not a camera construction, the audiance would have the car flipped on them with full speed probably?

These cameras can zoom in like 2km and they put it 1m from the track lol

What was wrong with the security?

The fence is so low I could step over it. I've seen a car being shot in the air much higher than this fence. As we've seen it's also not that strong.
@mattissotrendy8 жыл бұрын
+5howDown Most circuits are like that. The changes of that happening again are highly unlikely. It was a freak accident. Motorsport is dangerous.
@Sh0tD0wn8 жыл бұрын
Motorsport doesn't need to be dangerous for the viewer. This is just poor planning and low security standards. I don't mind a low fence if the viewers are more than 5 meters away from the track.
@IronMaster9998 жыл бұрын
have more security then you can hardly see the race. there is a reason they always tell you that you are at risk going to see a race... if you want to feel safe, stay at home and watch it on the tv.

Abbott's been through worse, in 2008, he was involved in a massive crash at Oulton Park while racing a GT4 Ginetta, the car rolled over several times and caught fire. Coincidentally, his teammate, one Kelvin Fletcher of Emmerdale fame (Fletcher is also known for racing in the British GT championship, having recently raced a few Bentleys a couple of years ago) crashed Abbott's car at Goodwood on the same year this Snetterton Race 3 crash occurred. It overshadowed, however, Gordon Shedden's last-lap pass on Rob Collard when Race 3 was restarted after a lengthy barrier repair period which contributed to a late-season push to overhaul and overtake Sam Tordoff in the overall driver's standings, granting Shedden the 2016 BTCC Title as a result.
