Is it a LQ4 6.0 short block I would go with 243 heads and 3:73 tru tack on the differential and a comp cam with a tbss intake manifold

My brakes caught on fire today. That was a scary experience. Drum brakes.

Had my brakes catch fire on a track day and went on a road trip after, the brakes were definitely very shit after so best to get them replaced asap. At one point I had to slam them and ended up driving past a traffic light stop because they didn't work well. But after I braked like that they worked a bit better. My worry would be leaking brake fluid and bubbles in it.

Might want to think about pulling the bearings I’m sure it cooked the grease.
