They would later defeat the Trailblazers on the road, the only team to beat the Celtics at home. I think the 86 Celtics would be too much for any team. With so much size on the Frontline, especially when Walton came in, and all of the skill, was a pleasure to watch.

@@tommychew6544 It was magical. Boston Garden was the second greatest basketball arena of all time behind only the vaunted MSG. They don’t make arenas like that anymore. The seats felt like they were much closer to the court and the nosebleeds were frequently covered in a haze of cigar and cigarette smoke. The crowd… was raucous unlike anything in the history of basketball. Definitely a special place.

I definitely feel that the '86 Celtics were the best team in history. They had a starting 5 that was hands down the best starting five in the history of the game. The teamwork, and how they knew each other so well. Just amazing, and the bench was really good. In contrast, the Lakers I always said had a team of ten starters. When the Lakers ran, they never stopped and had replacements for everyone that would be a starter on any other team. that's why the Celtic / Laker rivalry was so awesome. But, and the end of the day, I give the best team of all time to the '86 Celtics.

Great episode! Brought back a lot of memories for me. I watched as many of those 86 Boston games as I could, which was few and far between, TV was all we had back then so until you got to the playoffs you had to rely on network sports casters on the evening news for a team so far away. I was in the USMC stationed on the west coast and all you could catch out there was Lakers games and whoever they were playing if it was even on TV, and those were mostly weekend games.

This is what I say always, the Celtics had it all to be the best team of all time for the whole decade of the 80s if 1- Pete Maravich stayed healthy and motivated, 2-Bird did not break his back 3-Bill Walton did not break either and 4-Len Bias did not overdose. You take any two of these factors away and the Celtics get 6 , you take all 4 and they take 10 in a row plus several MVPs and finals MVPS for several of his players, not only Bird. Being as it was , Celtics 86 has a solid case to be the GOAT team we have seen, removed from the Dream Team.

The Bulls team, and this something that is rarely mentioned, played during a time when the NBA had expanded the league with new teams and as a result many teams were "Watered down" because they were forced to give up players. Also many greats of the 80's were now retired and or about the retire. In 1986 the league was going full bore and was a much tougher league to win in.

Kind of hard to argue with the 86 Celtics lineup that had 5 future Hall of Famers in it, because despite how you play, it's still a team sport. They moved the ball so fast that the cameras often didn't catch up with it. Who is the GOAT? There should just be a short list of the greatest teams and leave it at that. Pick your top 5 teams and it doesn't matter in what order, or in what year. I was a Bucks fan back then, but I slowly lost interest in the Pro game as it morphed into what it is today.

The Celtics front line would have been a very bad match-up for any Bulls team. Especially with Walton coming off the bench. He was a very hard match-up for anyone. The '82 Sixers would have been tough on anyone. Doctor J's last healthy year. Moses was unstoppable. People who didn't watch the Lakers, Celtics, and Sixers in the 1980s grossly underestimate the teams and the players (Kareem wasn't always 45; Doctor J fell off steeply after 1982. The most accurate way I could describe the '86 Celtics in terms of their place all-time is: THE '86 CELTICS WOULD BE AN EVEN MONEY BET IN A 7 GAME SERIES AGAINST ANY NBA TEAM EVER. Would they win? We'll never know.

Aight good brother I love 🧡 🏀 the video as always. But good brother I’ve got an inquiry 🧐 and I think you can help. In my opinion the 1996 Bulls 🐂 , the 1986 Celtics 🍀, and then the 1972 Lakers 🏀… but who comes after that to round out the top 🔝 five…? 🧐 🤔 🤷‍♂️ And any team not winning 🏆 a championship to close out that season is disqualified from the list. Cmon man let’s go! (Please, respectfully, amigo) ☮️ 🏀

Not sure if your old enough or knowledgeable enough to know about the 67 sixers but that team in my humble opinion would be number one or two next to 86 celtics...sixers was 46-4 first fifty games that year and celtics win 11th straight if it wasn't for 67 sixers...I have 83 sixers, 87 lakers and 96 bulls to round out my top five, respectively none of the millennium championship teams Crack my top five!!! (Rodman already stated that there were better teams in eighties than 96 bulls and thou I like them there biggest liability would have been at center with luc Longley, 83 Moses malone or 86 parrish/walton combo would have been to much for bulls to overcome)

Hate to bust your balls but in 1986 the Celtics went 45-1 at home & 50-1 including playoffs. The next year they Lost 2 at home but lost the 7 th game when Larry Bird missed the last shot. With 2 seconds after Magics hook runner birds ball was dead on & just missed. what people didn’t know is that bird had gotten into a fight and broke his right hand.

Americans. Theres an entire world of other sports out there dude. The late 70s- early 80s west indian cricket team The australian mens and womens hockey teams in the late 90s. The argentinian soccer team in the 80s. Theres fkn THREE with a better claim to 'best team of all time' and they dominated an era not a single tournament where they were basically playing against amateurs. Of course you could also throw in the 1948 australian cricket team. Which, of course as you know, had the statistically greatest sportsman of all time, Sir Donald George Bradman.
