I think Gable losing to Cassar as a freshman was one of the best things to happen to him in his wrestling career. Those 2 losses elevated him above and beyond where he is, helping him be a gold medalist. I think he relied much on his talent dominating in highschool and even into college. However, he has had to work harder than ever to elevate himself as a college wrestler and now an Olympic Gold medalist. Again, those loses pushed his work ethic harder than ever.

@@gregoryjsnyder8150 my friend, why dont you re-read the post. The 2 blemishes mean absolutely nothing. Dan Gable lost the NCAA finals to Larey Owings, yet was THE most dominant gold medalist shortly thereafter not even getting scored on. No way Cassar could hold a candle to Gable. You would be insane to think he would be any sort of match for Gable nowadays.

Gable is the most grown 21 year old i've ever seen! I'm 27 and I swear he looks more grown than me! But it''s insane how he won the 2021NCAA championship, then won gold at the olympics then returned to college and won it all again! That man is a legend!

This programming is absolutely fantastic. BTN has been killing it this year. I really appreciate the extra coverage that seems to be given to wresting lately. The Brands Brothers documentary, B1G wrestling and beyond, and stuff like this have been knocking it out of the park.

The problem is that with him going into WWE, he’s leaving that statement in question. He could win some world championships and maybe even win another gold medal, but with him quitting, it’s leaving that statement uncertain. He’s already proven how dominant he is, but without him staying at it, there’s always gonna be that question. Was he better than Snyder? Was he better than Bumgartner? Without him staying at it, the question is just up to debate

@@kitechile2 Personally I think Gable does make a case for greatest heavyweight in US history, but like I said, with him just suddenly leaving, it leaves the question up to debate. He could go out and accomplish a lot more kind of how John Smith did, and leave the question saying that no doubt he’s the best heavyweight, but with him suddenly leaving, it’s all a debate. Actually the reason why Bumgartner is the most decorated heavyweight US history is first because he’s a good wrestler, second because he has more medals than any wrestler in the US. I think if Gable accomplished more, there would be no debate
@kitechile2

@@ianshue2890 Ian, no argument here.Guess I'm not thinking about how many medals someone has won.I'm just going on what I've seen in the past and what I'm watching now.Don't think there's an american heavyweight who could beat Stevenson.
@ianshue2890
@ianshue2890 2 жыл бұрын
@@kitechile2 yeah and I agree, I have the same view. I’m just telling you how everyone else will look at it. That’s why people see John Smith as better than Jordan Burroughs, Burroughs is a great wrestler, but they see Smith better because he won two gold medals. In many ways it’s unfair to look at a wrestler just off of their accomplishments, but that’s how everyone looks at it because it’s the easiest way to place someone

Not gonna lie, I wish Gable would have gone the MMA route cuz him winning a UFC title would solidify him more than winning a WWE title cuz WWE awards title whereas in MMA, you have to earn your shot. I worry Vince will let Gable cut the line and honestly, it would feel like WWE just gave Gable a title as opposed to earning one.
