Anpanman gives people a part of him (his head) to save them, essentially sacrificing himself for others. The song talks about how they feel like they need to be these idols and role models, who give and give and give. And even through the hardships of essentially tearing themselves up for us, they are still willing to keep doing it because they know they help people. BTS are tearing off pieces of themselves to make us (Army) stronger. Asking for nothing in return (which isn't healthy or sustainable), just like Anpanman tears off pieces of his bean bun head to feed people, making himself weaker. Remember the lyrics saying " Keep secretly secretly getting covered in bruises, but ballin ballin still BANGTAN”. In an interview, Jimin said “Anpanman is the weakest hero in the world. He doesn’t have any supernatural power, but he’s a hero who tears off himself to give food to someone who’s hungry. We put our hearts in the song that we want to give our fans hope and energy, solely with our music and performances.”

This song is a definite in my top 5 favorites! The lyrics, the dancing. Center J-Hope, center wiggle legs RM, and JK’s little jazzy bridge especially. They always look like they’re enjoying performing it. Also the audio track has so many adlibs and background vocals it’s amazing to listen to in the car or headphones! I’m sad I didn’t get to experience the entire song done live in person because I wasn’t ARMY when it first came out. I love everything about this song! 💜

BTS compare themselves to the character Anpanman. The artists said they wanted to convey their desire to give people hope through their music and performances in the song. By comparing themselves to not the world’s strongest hero, but the world’s weakest hero, so basically bts wants to convey the message that rather than being a hero just because you’re strong, you can be a hero even if you’re weak.

This song is a banger!! Anpanman is basically a super hero and he's as you said Bean Man. So unlike other super heros, he doesn't have superpower strength but he's made up of bean bun and bcoz he cannot help people with physical strength, he decides to give up a part of his body(which is actually bean bun) to the needy people so that they don't starve.
