I still can’t believe BTS musical diversity and their level of artistry. They’re so complex. They don’t treat the music industry as a way of making money, they don’t try to release music just for the sake of releasing. Each song and lyric that is shown in front of their listeners/viewers is so well prepared, picked up with such a meticulous care. You can hear and feel their love for the music. Discovering their music is such an interesting ride. You don’t get bored at all with their sound and story. I wish more people could give them a real chance and listen closely to what BTS wants to delivers to the entire world.

the sea that they wished for is now full of dark waves consuming them except they have the strength and the will to jump and never be dragged again. this song speaks to me on a personal level and I must admit I have been crying all day but in the most cathartic way. if you listen with an open mind and expand yourself to the vast musical catalog of BTS's body of work you will find BTS are truly artists for healing and their attention to detail is remarkable.

Brianna Castillo Well, I guess you don’t have a Twitter account, those @RMY$ come and explain every thing and all the theories are there, it’s very helpful for @RMY$! I will try to explain it as short as possible: in the beginning it says a dancer can go trough 2 deaths, the first one being the most painful one and that’s losing the passion for the thing they love the most. In B TS’s case, they talk how they fear of losing passion for music. The center dancer represents the swan, and the dancers in black the shadows. In the first they control him and they torture him, they don’t let him to fly, all the bad thoughts and the passion losing. Then feels like in a cage where again the shadow within fight him and they don’t let him to get free but in the end he menages to escape it! Later he even fights and accepts the shadows, he gets to control them in the end and they help him to fly this time! The swan represents BTS in their music career and how in the end they realizing that music represents them, music is within them, it’s all they have! They fought and accept their shadows allowing them to grow more as artists and continue to do what they love the most, music. I really hope you understand more of it

BTS releasing a song about how an artist losing his passion is worse than death in their 7th year in the industry shows how genuine their love for music is. This whole comeback clearly wasn't made with breaking records in mind (even if they did pull out mind-blowing numbers anyway), it was about celebrating art in its many forms. For the making of the album they worked with many different artists, the marching band of 'ON', the choir in 'Friends', and now this dance company. They released 'Black Swan' as a single a month before the album and this was the MV that was released first. I do think that they truly wanted to spotlight these amazing dancers. I also want to highlight something : they released 'ON Kinetic Manifesto' the day of the comeback, and a few days later they released the official MV of 'ON', not caring if it was going to impact the views on the first 'ON' video. And a few days later again they released another video for Black Swan. I want you to understand that this isn't normal, this isn't common to release 3 MVs during comeback week. They also released the 'Shadow' and 'Ego' MVs. They didn't care about the views or money or whatever, they only cared about their work and art. I think that it's quite amazing that they did this knowing that they wouldn't get as many views as usual. It doesn't surprise me though, after years with them I've witnessed many times how passionate they were for music. I'm so proud of them and I'm really learning a lot about music besides them. I just wish more people would recognize that they are far from your typical boy band or even typical artists. They do this out of passion, which is not that common nowadays in an industry run by money, clout and mediaplay. I'm hoping that their music will get the recognition it deserves and that they will also get credited as the amazing songwriters, producers, singers, rappers, dancers that they are.

The lyrics really hit me. Whenever someone loses this thing they love so dearly, be it dancing, music, art or even things far from the traditional idea of art such as science and cooking, a piece of them dies and fades away. No matter what method leads to this loss (aging, losing popularity, injuries, financial issues etc), the hurt is the same- still so enormous that one feels swallowed up in a dark hole. And this could happen any second. My interpretation of the message is that knowing the importance of our passion, it is totally understandable that we fear losing it. But we should not stop pursuing our passion, because by doing so, we immediately cause its death, and thus the death of a part of us. Thank you BTS for such insightful lyrics in a beautiful song and thank you MN dancers for depicting this feeling physically and with lots of emotion. Wow, BTS never fails to impress us.

I can't even use my nursing experience here in a foreign country. I have to let go of my passion, and now a caregiver. I'm not saying being a caregiver is a bad thing but my first and last love is being a nurse and it made me depressed that I don't have a way to continuing doing what I love to do (my first death, so to speak). So, yeah, I was crying watching this video and can relate so much.

The dancers have portrayed the emotions so perfectly, the lyrics about the fear of losing passion for music and the song itself is a masterpiece. Now I understand why people think BTS isn't just a typical boy band, they're more than just handsome guys who can sing and dance, wear fancy clothes and colorful hair. This is some real musician stuff here. I hope people understand that BTS are where they are today is not because of their popularity but their love for music and what they do. The only thing their popularity did was to help getting recognized by the world. If only this song was released on the music platforms, this song would probably be the perfect candidate for SOTY.

It really feels like your dead when you start to feel like you're losing your passion and when you stop feeling the hope. But you know what? That passion comes back once we overcome the battles within ourselves. And that's the best feeling ever. "I'd rather die than living life without passion." - Jungkook I remember these words from him. He said this during their rookie days. THEY for once lost it and came back having that same passion and HERE IT IS NOW. Their passion that came back made Map Of the Soul.... made these masterpieces telling their story.

@@KeelyJalissa Let's not deny it... they're already singing it to us. They will not write this if they haven't gone through this. I also felt the same. And remember what they shared in 2018? About the pressure and that they talked about disbandment? I feel like it has something to do with that. But you know what's great? The fire and love is still there that's why the didn't give up and came back stronger, which also stated in the middle of the song... they refuse to lose it. Their story will inspire many artists :))

" a dancer dies twice -- once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful" wow this song has such a deep message and seing that in this mv it isn't BTS dancing and namjoon's verse where he says " if this can no longer resonate, no longer make my heart vibrate; then like this may be how I die my first death, But what if the moment is right now," the lyrics are so deep and as an artist, I do understand these feeling where we can easily lose apart of ourself and it can be hard... but that's just my interpretation of it. its truly so beautiful and thank you bts!! be happy army! stream this masterpiece!!!

The first half of the lyrics really got me. As someone who's been struggling with depression for years, when I'm at my lowest, it's truly scary the feeling of falling out of love for the things that used to make you happy. Suddenly, nothing seems to matter and you feel like your whole existence has no purpose. There's just this numbness. Fortunately, the song ends on a high note with a comforting sense of hope. Like Yoongi said in the intro, he's the shadow and the shadow is him. And he won't let it break him.
I know how it feel, going through my low point rn and these lyrics just hit so close... and those crying strings in the background...

This mv and song portrayed such a strong picture of what it feels like fears to lost passion in something you love and makes you live, in this context is music & perform for BTS. Losing the passion & dedication you used to have for the thing you loved doing is the scariest thing ever. This is the scariest thing for BTS as musician & artist, also for every artist out there. I think this is the reason why they make CONNECT, BTS art global project with various artist as part of their comeback, to make those strong statement. Black Swan really resonates these emotions well and makes it relatable. This entire dance is a conversation and interaction between the shadows and ego. People tend to focus only the first part of the song when second half of the song the lyrics stating REFUSE to let those passion die, embracing the passion, and letting it live. Also, from the lyrics say "Nothing can devour me, I shout out with ferocity" the dancer trying, running, and fighting to escape from the shadows until finally he be able to fly. Like the continuation from Interlude: Shadow, they projecting that it’s normal to afraid, freak out, or want to run away from our shadows at times. That these feelings are valid and it doesn’t make you weak to have these moments before you face your fears. Because at the end, you have to either work with them or against them. It's admirable how they manage to relay their inner voice/fear through the medium they value the most, the music itself. Masterpiece.

I love how BTS did this just for ART and not to be mainstream. Because as you can see, most people won't even understand what kind of masterpiece is this video. This version of Black Swan is another level too. Strings are heavenly. Dancers did such an amazing job to deliver all emotions in this song, i'm really impressed. Contemporary dance is such a hard thing to understand but honestly i am glad that they chose to share this with us. Choreo is literally conveying a whole story. The story of artists who are afraid to lose their passion for art but ironically they know that only thing they have is art itself so they try to accept the fact that they always gonna live with these fears but they'll still continue to do their 'thang'. They're so brave for sharing their dark side with us. I respect them so much. This is beyond from just a song. With Art Film, with song itself, BTS did ART here. BTS is using their power to spread the art around the world. I couldn't be more prouder of them..

Here's a tidbit, string instruments are almost always used for horror film soundtracks. In the film Psycho, the composer exclusively used strings to represent mental strain. Joker also uses this trope as well, using deep cello's in his icnoic bathroom dance scene. I find it appropriate for them to be using these to especially when it comes to the context of the song.

As a dancer, i for sure can relate to what the dancers have illustrated for us. i’ve hit a point where i lost my passion for dance...i felt like it was this weight which i was forced to carry, and i hated it. after that dance season ended, i stopped competing, and started to not show up to classes to train. at first i felt free like the invisible weight was lifted off of me...but then i felt like i lost a part of me. i felt clueless on what i wanted to do besides studying...i kept debating “do i want to go back to dance” but the thought of “what’s the point if i don’t feel this fire anymore” kept pulling me back. I later went to this show that my friends were performing in, and when i saw them, they relit this fire, this motivation in me. i saw how passionate they are for their craft and that just hit something in me. it pushed me to come back to dance, and start training again. yes it was rough at first, but then i slowly started to enjoy it. this opportunity then opened up for me where i’d be on the dance team for this pro basketball team and i felt like this was my chance. while at auditions, i felt so motivated and kept pushing myself. the energy in the room was amazing too; people were hyping each other up, saying “ayeee” and “let’s goo!”. it made me feel good. i realized that this is why i loves dance. this is why i’ve stuck with it for so long. i later found out that i made the team and i felt so happy, so grateful...i felt like my hard work indeed paid off...after that i began to train more, and get back into competitions and conventions. dance now is not just a sport, an art, a hobby. it’s now my passion that i am extremely grateful for. my wings have begun to work with me and eventually lifted me from one of the darkest times in my life. thanks bts for doing this :)
What a wonderful story! I wish you all the best in fufiling this beautiful passion!! ♥️♥️

Even Bts is not there in this video but still I can feel all the pain they go through and now they are a strong pillar standing straight and ruling the word with their talents. That is really touching that at last they made their pain as their feathers to fly high in the sky . *I'M CRYING*

I am in love with Black Swan, it is so different from their usual style and not what I was expecting at all but I am in LOVE! Everything was so well thought of, the camera angles, the movement of the dancers, the lyrics, the instruments, the backing vocals, what member was choose for each part. Everything complements each other so well. Really is breathtaking and I'm so excited to see the rest of the songs 😍 Thank you BTS

If you guys notice at the beginning of the choreo the guys in black(which probably represents the shadow) was controlling him and in the end the shirtless boy(the self) was controlling them and also led them. It was probably because he already accepted his shadow. If you remember the Carl Jung's theory, it says that you can't defeat and escape your shadow (which is also shown in here) but you can accept your shadow and be one (which is shown at the end of the video). The dance is probably saying that "We have no chance to defeat and escape our shadow so we need to accept it and be one". Edit:Uhm... I actually didn't thought this would blow up so I'm gonna drop my twitter acc. you can find a pinned post there (Its a thread of my theory for Black Swan) @kim_ylla

yeah! totally agree! an underrated masterpiece! and there is so much more to talk about this song; "Black Swan" in terms of the "BTS" as musicians, singers, dancers, instrumentalists, producers, songwriters... this goes everything in it as a "7"... you can see how well they meticulously made everything. for references.. deep dive... here are legit, genuine, true musicians, dancers, and squad RV for this, and also their RV. So true, you put it so accurately. It is not money(although that's very good) it's their craft that's important to them.... I have never appreciate any artists like I do these artists and they are still young. I so 💜 them
@maymaecat51494 жыл бұрын
@@yolodannyiny3263 well (at least from my perspective) many artists start out passionate and love the work they create. They do it for the art, the getting thier voice out,not the fame. The fame is collected along the way. And after a certian point they slowly pump out content just to stay famous,to stay relevant. Especially when they reach BTS's point. (Multimillionaires) The fact that BTS is saying they wish to forever love what they do, produce words of passion and Feeling. It shows that there is more than just "I wanna be famous"(basically the lines Yoongi state in Shadow) they want to continue being in love with music, dance, etc etc. I think this is what the op was saying but again this is my interpretation of the video as well as this comment. I hope this made sense for you as my wording can become confusing (so confusing I confuse my own self half the time😂)
