Bighit posted this to mock MBC when BTS attended a year end program when they performed this but sadly the camera was so bad that it mainly focused on the entire stage and audience that you could barely watch BTS' performance and as you can see they cut this intro in every possible angle where you can see the whole dance performance. As for the fandom name it was usually via voting. BTS confirmed A.R.M.Y as the fandom on July 9.

No usually in K-pop, agencies decide or it's put up to vote. The group name is taken into consideration. So as BTS stands for bullet proof boy scouts, Bighit chose ARMY for BTS' fans.

Most kpop artists have official fan group names created by the company and artist. People have already said what ARMY stands for. Some groups and solo artists, though, don't have an official name. For example, kband DAY6 does not have an official fan name, but they call themselves the Sundays. New solo artist Holland's fanbase is also unofficial, but he acknowledged them when he learned they were calling themselves Harlings. also you questioned "how could they not be popular?" When this was released, BTS was still nearly the opposite of popular. There were many proud ARMYs back then, but nowhere near how many there are now (shout out to those fans, by the way, thanks for always supporting them). But they never really made it big until 2015, when they won their first big award two years after debut, and then they really made it big internationally in late 2016 (with some individual songs becoming popular on the internet between this time period, but not even close to going to the BBMAs or anything like that).

no this isn't where ARMY started. every KPOP group comes up with a fandom name when they debut. A.R.M.Y stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth or as RM said on Ellen, their name Bangtan Sonyeondan which translates to Bulletproof Boy Scouts and they have this ARMY right beside them
